Re: Scrivener for iPad

Having just purchased an iPhone 3Gs I'm somewhat bemused by people who seriously want to write on these things. Having tried to use it for a while now I can't possibly see how this is a realistic proposition. Compared to writing in my moleskine the iPhone is a tad cumbersome and slow to say the leas...

Re: How many fiction writers do we have here?

Pumpkins left out to rot turn into vampires. Did you know that, Jane? The thought tickle-tastes my brain like a forked tongue, as I contemplate murder, when the absinthe begins to take hold. Don't change or cut a darned thing. I thought it flowed wonderfully as I read through it. I certainly had no...

Re: Poll: Product activation in the garden of good and evil

Cheers Keith. Just had a look now. An emulator I'd been using had set up some kind of emulated Network (Not sure what to  ) I've deleted it, restarted Scrivener and there's now no Activation reminder. So problem solved.

Thanks very much. :D

Re: Poll: Product activation in the garden of good and evil

Cheers Keith. Will look into that. I do remember my wifi trying to start a connection to my neighbors network when I first had it but thought I'd turned it off.

Re: Poll: Product activation in the garden of good and evil

No needs for apologies, like I say, It's no real hardship and I can certainly wait till 2.0. (And unlike some others I'm in no rush for that.) The first box says Product Activation. The serial number for Scrivener on this machine has not yet been activated. etc. The second says, Failed to con...

Re: Poll: Product activation in the garden of good and evil

Just a thought. I have no complaints about the product activation, but would it be at all possible to make the product activation check less frequent? (or is there the possibility to do this check by phone? If there already is, and I haven't seen in the prior posts, my excuse comes later*). As my co...

Re: "The word count is simply too high."

For new writers without a track record, not very. Just as I thought. Means I'm going to have to look at this from a totally new perspective. At least I've realised after only 200,000 words eh! :( The Lord of the Rings is a bad example, since that is 1 book It's a good example because mine was inten...

Re: "The word count is simply too high."

Thanks Druid. I'm sure, as you say, it won't be too difficult as I'm only on first draft. Seemed a lot of cutting at first but not when it's thought through properly. I like the idea of marking places where interest lacks or confusion ensues. Will certainly give that a go. Cheers. And of course I'm ...

Re: "The word count is simply too high."

Oh bugger. Looks like I have a lot of editing to do at 160,000 for the first book. Reading that blog site also makes me wonder how receptive agents/publishers are to books that come in parts, with no definate ending till the final book? ie the difference between say Harry Potter and Lord of the Ring...

Saw this and thought it quite relevant in regard to apples treatment of developers and not wanting pages facing competition.

Re: Scrivener for iPad

Being a writers forum you would imagine a certain amount of intellience. Yet, it seems, even when explained simply and precisely why this isn't a viable project certain people still have to try it on. It's like being back in school. You have my complete sympathy Keith as this is going to be the 'iPh...

Perhaps your colleague and yourself are only clicking on the binder's label of the document. You have to actually click in the document itself to undo. I use this feature regularly with no problems whatsoever.

I'd read about that little escapade in Hippo Eats Dwarf by Alex Boese. Reading the whole thing certainly made me chuckle. Cheers.
