Re: Plain Text Sync, No Italics...

KB wrote:Ah, okay. Well, basic Markdown support for plain text sync is on the list, possibly for 2.5.

Then can we increment the current version of Scrivener to 2.6 so it will be there now?

Re: Plain Text Sync, No Italics...

More specifically, when I use the Sync command, I was expecting some way of exporting as Markdown. I don't like RTF as it's proprietary and binary. I think AmberV hit it on the head...RTF is hard to program for. I recognize its Scrivener's internal format, but as formats go it sucks, IMHO. "As ...

Plain Text Sync, No Italics...

I am syncing the file to an external folder. Simply put, the Plaintext sync does not do italics. This sucks as I use italics heavily in my document.

Help?

Re: Going Global with Your Book

InDesign costs $700, and you have to kluge to get to Smashwords. As it was, you stripped out all RTF artifacts, which wouldn't work so well in my context as I use italics and monospacing to communicate internal dialog and technology. Wouldn't an alternative be to convert to LaTeX and use any one of ...

Re: A plea for Scapple-Scrivener integration: rebut KB's reasons

I have a home project that started in Scapple. I have a novel series that I'm slowly creating the setting for...the scapple is currently stretched across two screens. Mindmaps up on the wall are now on computer... Yes, its brilliant - but very expensive when you add two 27" monitors... I just ...

Re: A plea for Scapple-Scrivener integration: rebut KB's reasons

Just to try to work against integration. I'm an Abstract Random thinker--something I've only lately accepted. A couple years back I had a pretty big assignment at work and it was time for me to move on. With a big-arse whiteboard and colored markers, I proceeded to try my first-ever mindmap. Major s...

eSellerate in latest Scrivener Beta

I tried to install today's beta. I received an eSellerate error (-2003). I followed the fix-it information and deleted the MindVision directory. Still broken. I did not go beyond. Regular Scrivener works just fine, but having deleted the MindVision directory it had to re-activate for my computer. So...

Re: scapple for group/classroom brainstorms

Why stop there? Why not record the session (screen perhaps with you picture-in-picture delivering voice-over) drawing the mindmap and giving the lecture? Then, you can post it to YouTube (ala Coursera or Udacity)

Re: Scapple and other platforms (iOS, Windows etc)

Well, if you can find us an iOS developer and pay for his or her time... :) There's the rub... I use Android for my mobile computer needs...Shame there's still platform OS fracture when Mac OS is BSD under the sheets and Android is Linux...both are *nix derivatives, but the GUI isn't cross-platform...

Well look at the bright side... ...January, since both parties on the "super committee" couldn't come .when the 53% stop paying the bills? As I hinted at earlier, perhaps there is a new, BREED , of politician, waiting in the wings. Would you know them if you encountered them? Perhaps you ...

Re: Which Macbook?

My concern with the Air is that there is no cd drive if I have to install something for school that I can't download. Do you think that would be a problem? I was planning to order online, but I may wind up going to the store to play with them before I decide. I have a newer generation Mac Mini...I ...

Re: The rise of e-reading

Love the random access of books. I would say I buy 1:1 ratio of ebooks v. print. It depends on the book's price/availability. If the print used copy is cheaper than the kindle version (it usually is), I'll buy the print copy. But, if the difference is close, or if the book is newer, I'd buy the kind...

Europe's Last Summer...

A fun little book on the various threads (political, cultural, personal) leading up to August 1914. We find that Archduke Ferdinand was pro-Serb, and when he was assassinated the A-H Emperor was relieved. The author argues that there were two separate wars, the Austro-Serbian, and the German-Russian...

Re: 18th Century Capitalization

I would think it's because of the Germanic ties. In German, all nouns are capitalized. We may well have followed that pattern, either from influences of Reformation literature (largely Germanic) or the natural language affinity. Just like once upon a time some verbs we use now with helping verbs use...
