Re: Preset format for Hardcover Binding

Hi, Thank you both for the great information and suggestions. I didn't know this standalone software was available a small time binder and at a price I could afford. I looked at the Divalipi website and from the information on the site it looks like what I want to do. They also have a BookMaker pro...

Re: Changing Name in Metadata Permanently

Did you go into Compile > Metadata and change it there?

Re: Preset format for Hardcover Binding

You might not need Scrivener to do that. It looks like the URL below has a product that does Imposition printing, which includes signature order. Not sure if it is shareware, as it doesn't mention a license price.

Re: activate autocomplete

You can complete using Option + Escape.

To turn on auto-complete: Preferences > Corrections, then ensure "Suggest Completions...type" is active, but not "script mode only."

Should work for you after you uncheck "script mode only."

Did this work for you?

Re: Replace By Formatting?

IMO, this stems from an RTF/WYSIWYG issue. If Scrivener acted a bit more like HTML or LaTeX, then global changes wouldn't need to be necessary this way.

Re: Text Substitution in Frontmatter?

Disregard. The replacements work as expected. I just wasn't focusing to ensure I was in the right project for the test.

Text Substitution in Frontmatter?

Hey, I was hoping to use the same frontmatter for a series of books. However, it appears I can't do variable substitution apart from the few allocated to the project. Is this true?

Re: 18th Century Capitalization

I recently cruised through a book on history of English. A big take away was a reminder that English grammar was not as standardized then. There was a big move in the 19th C to standardize. So, you can capitalize the way you'd like if you're mimicking 18thC grammar. YOLO.

Re: Chapter Endnotes...

The problem is the friend has very little technical expertise, and is about $1K miles away...making it harder for me to set him up. In law school (where you footnote every sentence) I solved this problem by using LaTeX and compiling with Make (pre-Scrivener). His fall-back is MS Word, which I consid...

Re: Chapter Endnotes...

I'm going to cry. Is there no decent end-note solution for Scrivener on Windows?

Chapter Endnotes...

Howdy, all. I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend who is just starting with Scrivener. (Hey, I swear it's not me. I use Mac. ) He wants chapter end notes. I've tried to research the alternatives for implementing notes, and I'm no closer to the finish than I was when I started. Can s...

Give this a shot. It's been a while since I've looked at it, but should be pretty Solarized. Drop the .txt.

Change default storage to HTML, XML or DocBook

Since Not Kevin's mentioned the 2.5 release in the Technical Support area...I'd like to make a bold suggestion. The current Scrivener uses RTF as the internal mechanism for text storage. I would like to propose the radical departure to a non-proprietary, UTF-8(like) format: HTML. If not HTML, then X...
