Re: Isn't this Word add-in a total Scrivener rip off?

I'm hesitant, too, about plug-ins to Word. I'm a tech writer and used to use the old RoboHelp that was an add-on to Word (now it's called RoboHelp for Word) and it worked okay, but there was always the underlying problem of synching to the release of Word that you had. At one point, we wanted a new ...

Re: Keywords for characters; concatenated searches; rel. clients

Steve, thought you might be interested in how I use keywords for characters, and a problem with searching. Look at my reply in this post about keywords: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=14053 Also, I just discovered something cool about keywords. I'm tagging a bunch o...

Re: Balls balls balls balls Keyword Search still broken..

I'm using 026 and yes, it appears that a keyword search from the Keyword HUD* is still broken. However, I notice in the 026 release notes that keyword search from the search box at the top of the menu is fixed. So, the workaround is to use that box for now. It's a pain, though, because you have to t...

Re: Seeing Dropbox right...

I skimmed over this, so apologies if I missed something, but it seems that using Dropbox is a problem only when collaborating. I'm writing a novel and I will be the only one touching the files, ever. (When it goes to edit, the editor will get a Word version and I will stop writing/editing at my end....

Re: Split at selection in 025

Oh, this is interesting. I usually just put in a left .05" indent on the paragraph when I format manuscripts. Here are the settings I had: In the Indentation section of the Paragraph dialog box, it says: Left 0.06" Right 0" Special: First line By 0.13" Mirror indents is *not* che...

Re: Split at selection in 025

Another poster seems to be having problems with autonumbered headings in Word: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=13974 That poster also mentioned a problem with a footer. Just out of curiosity, I checked my original document. Mine did *not* have a footer. Since there's...

Re: Import of Word doc with custom heading

I had a problem with an imported Word document that used customized headings, too. I had set up the Heading1 and Heading2 to use the autonumber feature. My post is here: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=13963 My workaround was to turn off the autonumbering before I im...

Re: Split at selection in 025

Aha! I went back to my original .doc file and changed the Heading1 and Heading2 styles to NOT use autoformat. I saved it as RTF. I imported it into Scrivener. I used Ctrl-K to split at selection, and it worked, with no crashing! So, I think the problem is with autonumbering, Word 97-2003 (doc) forma...

Re: Split at selection in 025

Some more info:

I was using the Blank template the first time I tried it. I just tried using the Novel template. I got the same results whether I imported the .doc version (not .docx) or .rtf.

Again, love the product and appreciate all that you're doing for us!

Split at selection in 025

I just had Scrivener crash when I was trying to split at selection, but I may have been using Scrivener in a non-supported fashion. I have two monitors, running Windows 7. I started Scrivener and it opened at the Tutorial, which I had been working through. I did Open > Project and opened my novel. I...

Problem launching tutorial in Beta 025

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I want to run the tutorial in the new beta release. I selected Help > Interactive Tutorial. A text box came up, the last lines of which said, "" Click on 'Continue...' to specify a location for the tutorial project. The tutorial project will then be ope...

Re: Pay it forward -- "Buying" a pre-release?

I agree! I'd be happy to pre-pay if funds are a problem. I also agree with the comment that the pricing is right; it's the combination of your dedication and the reasonableness of the pricing that makes it so easy to offer to pre-pay.

Thanks for all your work!

Re: Discount on Scriveners release...

I'm not sure if this is the case these days, but in a lot of beta software I used in the past, getting early access and the ability to influence the product (and help get the bugs out) was all one got. Then again, there is open source software out there that is absolutely free. Currently I use a fre...

Starting the tutorial

First off, great tutorial! I can't wait to get my hands on the released version. Just one comment on starting the tutorial: Go to http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivenerforwindows/ It says: "Choose 'Open Tutorial' from the Help menu inside Scrivener to load Scrivener's tutorial." Maybe...

Re: Bug????

Are you talking about a removable USB stick (thumb drive)? I don't know if this applies, but one software program I used on a USB stick had users install it on a hard drive and then copy the program file directory (for example, C:\Program Files\Scrivener) to the USB stick. Not only that, if you were...
