Re: Quick compiling to Novel Manuscript format

May I say that bobcalco's suggestion is SUPER! Absolutely SUPER!!! There are a range of users with varied backgrounds writing with Scrivener. Some have little computer experience, some are computer professionals themselves. We run the gamut, certainly. With that as preface, I'd say that the existing...

Re: Python Scripting Feature Request

I agree with deltafalcon. The idea for L&L, from a business standpoint, I think, is to develop what is sometimes called a "third-party-support ecosystem." Having third-party developers writing code to enhance your product and not having to pay them is a great idea. Some do it so they c...

Re: Binders/Collection visual behavior a bit clunky

Dare I say this UI design decision violates the Principle of Least Surprise/Least Astonishment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_least_astonishment ? As a user, I expect the colors of the tabs to work like colored folders in a filing cabinet and I am surprised when that doesn't happen.

Re: Which is the best author to read and why ???

For some of the most beautiful prose by a contemporary author (for my taste, of course): Gregory Maguire. I'm currently rereading "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister." I marvel at his skill on every page, oftentimes at every sentence. Yes, I'm gushing. But honestly, I think he's superlative...

Documentation Grammar Bug

V1.0.1, Help Manual, "Compiling the Draft", p. 152 Third paragraph: "At it’s most basic usage..." should be: "At its most basic usage..." The contraction "it's" means "it is." The non-contracted form is possessive. If this is a common error in the ma...

Re: Aeon Timeline's Eventual Pricetag

I am a professional Software Engineer. I work professionally as a software developer... Then I think you should charge a respectable rate for your development time. I'd estimate at least $50/hour. At 1000 hours, that's $50,000 USD development cost. And I think you should expect to make that money ba...

I agree wholeheartedly. I wrote a stage play last April for Script Frenzy. Same thing happened to me. It was very difficult to fix. I, too, hope this can be fixed.

[quote] 1) Would you rather have an idea of what the basic plot outline is and where you fit in it, or did you like having to wait to find out what happened to set up your scene, or what happened next? Re: Novel-in-a-Day (NIAD)... Day

Well, it turns out I have a meeting later today (it's currently 1am local, 6am Cornwall). When we scheduled this, the meeting didn't conflict. Now it does. But, I'm still doing this. I'm writing through the night to get a draft and ask any questions that come up as a result. I have to be finished by...

Re: Please! Don't let the beta expire BEFORE the actual release

I only press "Try" each time. I recently pressed "Reset" once because it said I had 1 day left. Now I have something like [28 days left or Sept. 30]. Sept. 30 will happen first, obviously. Personally, I'm glad the dialog is there and it doesn't bother me at all. It lets me know L...

Re: External documents in templates?

Ah, I see. Since I don't work with PDF files and the like, I wasn't aware that the behavior I was seeing was consistent, just in a different way than I would have preferred. Ctrl+F5 already does in one composite keystroke the kind of thing I was proposing. I'm not at all surprised. This program is a...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day (NIAD)... Day

But I believe the beginnings and endings of stories have their own requirements over and above the rest of the prose they sandwich. If I was writing either, I would want to know. And I'd want to know if I was writing any part of the climax, and if there was more than one part, which part of the clim...

Re: External documents in templates?

Excellent! I thought there might be another way, but I couldn't find it in the manual. I was looking at Scrivener links; not the right place to find what I needed. Thanks very much for the help. Having (mostly) set up my template, I'd like to ask for a tweak to the "accessing imported documents...
