Re: SAVE and SAVE AS buttons

And I do a different variation. I set Tools->Options->Backup: - Turn on automatic backups - Back up with each manual save This allows me to make a backup when I want to (with Ctrl+S), not when I close Scrivener. My issue with that behavior was the number of times I would look at some files in a proj...

Re: Best Scrivener link for Android Tablet

I'm getting to know my Android tablet. I just bought a Nook Color (refurbished) from overstock.com for $150 (USD, price included shipping (I thought it was a good deal)). Then I installed CM7 and the Google Apps. Works like a charm. A 7" Android tablet for cheap. Of course, no camera and no GPS...

Re: Entire project vanished

when I returned to the computer it had run its automatic backup and scrivener had closed. ⋅ Do you mean some other program on your computer ran a system-wide backup, or do you mean that Scrivener closed and you had "automatic backups on close" enabled? Or something else entirely...

Re: Line Numbers

And when would you like the line numbers displayed? In the editor? If they're displayed there, the lines are wrapping depending on the width of the editor's display. This may or may not correspond to the width of the compiled document, so the line numbers may change when the work is compiled. Is tha...

Seamliss Syncing

Lots of folks are asking for "seamless syncing." Can those folks chime in about how they envision "seamless syncing" actually working? ⋅ What does it mean for synchronization to be "seamless?" ⋅ How many project copies are being synced? Just two? Mor...

Re: Custom URL Handler (Scrivener Links outside of Scrivener)

Please remember that this feature should now be cross-platform. I think this can also be done on Windows, although I've never done anything like that myself. What about iOS?

Re: One file disappeared, compile broke

Clive, Thanks for the idea of using another reader to check the RTF file. LibreOffice reads 82.rtf just fine. So at this point, I'm pretty much out of ideas. Your mention of backups made me just that much more paranoid about it, so I took another one. I agree; one can never be too careful. It's odd ...

One file disappeared, compile broke

V 1.0.2 I had Scivener open for a few days on my machine, working away on my novella's second draft, editing, fixing, happily compiling the changes, then I made some fixes, compiled them, just like I had been doing for days, took a look at the output file to review the changes, and... WHAT!? One sce...

"Paste and Match Style" is Ctrl+Shift+V on the Windows version. It may already have a shortcut assigned to it on the Mac as well.

Re: I'm getting double ??. Help!

OK. An epub file is a zip file. Make a copy of the epub file. Rename the copy to have the extension .zip. For example if your epub file is MyStory.epub, copy it and rename the copy MyStory.zip. Then extract that zip file into an empty directory, for example ~/foo. Look inside the extracted subdirect...

Re: Performance Issue: Scrivener Hang Up When Switching Folders

I am not working from personal experience here, so again, pardon my musings if they don''t prove to be true. Both of these issues appear to be I/O related, albeit expectations for performance from an Atom-based netbook should probably be scaled back to a minimum. The key is DiscoveredJoys comment th...

Re: Performance Issue: Scrivener Hang Up When Switching Folders

You're talking about a slowdown while in the "scrivenings" view? If so, it will take the computer some time to compose that view if you are transitioning from looking at one scene to looking at all of the scenes. A couple of questions: ⋅ How large is your project in words? ⋅...

Re: Using Scrivener to Compile for Kindle

I'm using Windows as well. And I think you will keep getting the first dialog ("KindleGen Not Found") until you do what that dialog says. When you select mobi as the format you wish to output, look at the Compile dialog. You should see the option "KindleGen" in the list in the Co...

Re: Using Scrivener to Compile for Kindle

Well, I have never tried to compile my WIP as a .mobi file. But I selected the mobi format in the Compile dialog and was presented with this message: KGRequest.jpg When I clicked "OK", the Compile dialog window now said the following: KGCompile.jpg Did you not receive this dialog at least ...

Re: 1.0.3 release > 1.0.3.2 beta, correct?

couldn't it just be that 1.0.3 is released. they start working on 1.0.4 with bug fixes and minor features. they find show stopping bug. the fork is simply 1.0.3.Patch01 ? If the fork is labeled 1.0.3.Patch01, then ".3" is not a VERSION_PATCH, it is a VERSION_MORE_MINOR. If it really is a ...
