Sometime ago, I started checking out other database apps avail for the Mac; read some good things about Panorama. Haven't used it extensively, so I'm not recommending it as much as suggesting it as an alternative.

To be honest, I have downloaded and test-driven every single Mac recipe application and found all of them wanting. I'm still using test files until I can find something I really like. There was a contest some time ago, where Mac users were invited to suggest ideas for a really great Mac application ...

I really like Journler. Simple, easy to use, has a quick drop box function (which I don't use). Really a nice, solid program.

Scribe is a free alternative. No bells and whistles, just basic audio transcription software.

I recommend WordPress, although I haven't tried any of the other blogging systems out there. I have read that it's a good idea to blog from your own domain name, even if your blog is only hobby stuff and you're not planning on using it to make money.
