Re: Scrivener Needs Urgent Updates

At what point did I ever say crappy? I've used Scrivener for 2 years, and for the most part it's been fine. That said, it needs an upgrade and I think the editor could be better. What for? What does it lack right now that leaves space for improvement? I'm honestly curious, not trying to start an ar...

How about... you type your paragraph, then press Enter several times to create empty paragraph(s), then go back to where you wish to insert your italicised paragraph and insert it, then click the beginning of the empty paragraph down the page and continue typing?

Re: I love Scrivener - but I'm too scared to use it

Back-ups, back-ups and back-ups performed (and verified) redundantly, both in method and target location, are the only thing to combat your fear. This doesn't add to the workload. Properly understood, it's an essential part of the workload. Totally this! I once lost two months of updates on one of ...

Re: Long wait for new updates...

Broadsides, it's not what it looks like, really. :) These are two separate teams, as far as I know, they don't interfere with each other. We all wish for updates, fast bugfixes and all. Yet, people keep requesting all Mac features. So you either put your effort into patching swiftly, or try to elimi...

Re: I love Scrivener - but I'm too scared to use it

Not to make light of your situation, BadWolf, and I am sorry you've ran into trouble, really feel your pain. However, I've been using Scrivener since 2011, both the Windows version and the unsupported eternal beta for Linux, and not even once I've lost as much as a single word. That's not to say tha...

Re: Disappointed and switching back to Word

Hm, what is wrong with Scrivener's composition mode — it is as pure a blank page as is possible, nothing but you and a page floating in the inky blackness... Probably nothing. It's just that I have already gotten used to the special "editing mode" mindset that I switch into automatically ...

Re: Disappointed and switching back to Word

Sorry to hear that the OP was disappointed. Although, of course, everyone has their own workflows. For example, I've never been able to finish NaNoWriMo with Scrivener. It just doesn't work for me. The ability to write in chunks drags in the desire to edit on spot, and there you go. So, the only way...

Re: Please make a good Scrivener 3 for Windows too...

Personally, I'd like to see UI redesign. I remember seeing new Mac design somewhere on these forums, and I'd like something like this happen for Windows. :)

But then... my second machine is Linux, and it's not going to be updated. Hmm...

Re: Who want a Linux release version?

I would like an official Scrivener for Linux.. and an Android version as well.. I understand it isn't likely to happen any time soon. I would love an Android version. Even if it's something like Linux eternal beta, I don't really care. The only reason I still don't own a tablet is that there are st...

Re: Linux 1.9.01 Beta Released

Thank you for this extremely timely update, what with NaNoWriMo just around the corner and all. It's sad to hear that the Linux version gets cut off, though. I just hope that no more format changes come in the future, so that the current Windows/Mac versions stay compatible with the Linux one as it ...

Re: Windows Update

Thank you, MimeticMouton! Will be rolling back right now, because I need this compatibility. Especially since NaNoWriMo is around the corner and my netbook runs Xubuntu. I realise the change must have been indicated on the auto-update announcement, but honestly... I was too excited to have an update...

Re: Windows Update

I wonder when we're getting a Linux update... since now the compatibility between Win and *nix is totally broken due to the format changes. Or should I be looking into the ways to downgrade, because Linux update is happening never? Since, you know, I wasn't expecting anything bad until the updated S...

Re: Set Editor zoom percentage per installation, not per project

If at some point the Linux version becomes official, maybe it could use its own interface file, though this isn’t a cut and dry thing. Which actually means never, I suppose. :) Well... okay. Although I don't see how it would be so different from Win and Mac versions having their own interface files...
