Re: Templates and Forms

Although there are no plans to somehow implement form entry into the text editor, stay tuned, I think we'll have some interesting features for you to play with in the future. :) I've been using Editorial since before Scrivener came out to do exactly this. Editorial can present an entry form to buil...

Re: Single-source reusable text snippets

Let's say, it is not entirely simple, because while of course I can convert from RTF to TXT in one line of Perl, having a way to actually maintain formatting, let alone embedded pictures, is not all that simple as you need to carry along not only what you had, but also where you had it. That's prob...

Re: Character sheets ?

No, not at the moment. I have a workaround. I write them Editorial (using a template) and then import them into Scrivener. Scrivener for iOS automatically transforms the markdown into rich text.

I'll second the iPad Air 2. It works really well with Scrivener. Air 2 + Scrivener + bluetooth keyboard = me a happy camper.

Agreed, it's an outstanding combination in terms of value and performance.

I'm a linux guy, too. wondering if I should continue on with my linux laptop or go with iOS. dave It's going really well to be honest. More that the quality of the app though is that ...

Re: Have you backed up your work lately?

To quote Tom Arnold in True Lies: "Ballsy. Stupid, but ballsy".

I admire the guy.

As for backups, a timely reminder to us all.

My projects are in Dropbox (mostly for iOS) and they get backed up automatically as zipped archives to iCloud and my VPS.

Re: Encryption and Dropbox

Olympus Has Fallen aside, as a lawyer encryption is vital. It also seems to becoming more available in other apps as I see Devonthink To Go added it in version 2.0 for their Dropbox sync. If I was that concerned or I belonged to a profession (like yours) where security was paramount, I wouldn't use...

Re: Scrivener on Kindle Fire?

You don't need to pony up for an iPad Pro to get a good experience. The iPad Air 2 is pretty cheap these days and makes for a very good experience with Scrivener. My wife has it on her Air 2 and I think despite its age, the Air2 is Apple's best tablet in terms of value and performance. Like others o...

Re: Creating a new character on iOS

My workaround is to do my templating in Editorial (with Python support  ) and then push the markdown document to Scrivener using a sharesheet. Work really well; doubly so because I do my world building in Editorial.

Re: to pay for mac and IOS?

Hello, I think that is quite "rude"... SC Different product, platform and development effort. If you knew something of hell Keith and the team went through to bring this app to market, I don't think you'd have asked that question unless you have an inflated sense of entitlement. It does a...

Re: Templates in iOS

Took my a couple of minutes to create a workaround. I already manage a lot of my worldbuilding and character creations with Editorial which is linked to Dropbox. In a nut shell, it gives me markdown, Python and the ability to create my own custom UI. You don't need to go to that extreme - I'm a nerd...

Re: Linux and iOs?

I don't think it will work. I suspect the iOS version required a change to the file format (hence new versions for macOS and Windows). The Linux version looks like it will remain tidally locked to the (Mac) 2.7 format version unless it gets an update. This was bound to happen. It was only a matter o...

Re: iPad air, mini or pro?

Here's my thoughts on the matter: IMG_0003.JPG This is my mobile rig sitting in front of my docked work computer. iPad mini with a cheap, but surprisingly good knock-off Bluetooth keyboard. Scrivener is completely usable on the 8 inch screen size. That said, I am intrigued by the Pro line, in partic...
