Re: Speech Problem

That doesn't sound quite right... Alex was released with the system update that gave us Voice Over (At least 10.4.3.)

Eh, Anyway, It sounds like the default system voice has changed for our OP...

Re: Speech Problem

I thought that the default voice from 10.4 onward was Alex (Which is the nice almost humanlike synth that you heard.) I usually hear Eloquence since my wife is a JAWS user so, Alex is a nice breath of fresh air... (Alex is the only Speech Synth that I've ever heard that has taken a breath...)

Dictionary lookups

Ok, So I was using the nifty three finger double tap look up method (I'm sure that there is a less wordy name for this feature, but it escapes me at the moment...) and then the look up wouldn't dismiss, and then Scrivener crashed. It's happened twice now. I reinstalled the application and that didn'...

Re: Scrivener + MacBook Air = ♥

Back in late February, I started out by replacing my Mid 2006 13" MacBook with an 11" Air. I used it for two days before returning it because I felt the display was too 'short.' I thought about doing a CTO 13" model, but at the same time realized that I could just walk out of the stor...

Re: Scrivener and iPad usage Scenarios

I'm facing a similar dilemma... I'm going back to school and am currently tossing up the idea of a 27" Thunderbolt display to complement my 13" MacBook Pro when I'm at home, or an 11" Air to supplement the 13" Pro when I'm not on the road to try to save a little bit of what is le...

Re: Scrivener + MacBook Air = ♥

If you're thinking of getting one: RUN. This machine is really great. Sigh. You're really making it hard for me to ignore my heart and go with my head. As noted elsewhere , I'm dithering between getting a new Air and a Mac Mini. The latter is cheaper. The former is "really great" etc etc....

Re: Snapshots

Ah Ha! I would have never thought of dragging a snapshot into the other editor and having it display there...

Now I can begin my rewrite in confidence that I can get the original back.

Snapshots

Ok, I think i understand the way that snapshots feature works, but I am wondering why it is not possible to snapshot a whole project? This seems like it would be an easy way to keep the first draft before a rewrite. The other thing I'm curious about is there any way to display the snapshot in the ot...

Re: Lighter icons?

Amber, You hit the nail on the head... The funny thing is that the chapters that were all a lighter color were all added after I had upgraded to 2.x. This project started as a 1.5x project (as did a few others, but they never exhibited this behavior) It's fixed now though. I love it when the users o...

Lighter icons?

I was working in a project today that I haven't touched for about a month and a half and I noticed something odd: the icons for text files and folders are a lighter shade than the rest others. Resetting the icons to defaults doesn't do any thing... This behavior is specific to this project... Lighte...

Re: Making notes for a rewrite

I put all my notes for rewrites in inspector comments. This way, all I have to do is to display the whole text in Scrivenings mode and I see all notes in one list. One click on a note, and I am there. Andreas, My brain is not comprehending this... Last week was long, and I think I am just getting o...

Re: Making notes for a rewrite

Synopsis may be the best way, just place the word rewrite before the notes and then search for 'rewrite.' Maybe this is something that could be added but I have no clue what the best way to implement it would be...

Making notes for a rewrite

Is there a simple way to make notes for a rewrite in a fashion that I can quickly tell if a scene has any notes for said rewrite? For instance, I have a scene that I want to expand the text of an assembly, but I want to make some notes as to what I want it to include, but I want to be able to find t...

Re: Lion: First Impressions

Regarding that Apple document, I had no luck with using the restore disk, which is a little unnerving. It would go so far as to download the ~4GB data files necessary to perform the full installation, but then it would crap out and forget that it downloaded anything. I tried this three times before...

Re: Lion: First Impressions

AmberV, The trick with All Files makes it that much more useful. I think I will keep it now. May not have my Finder windows open with it, but I now have it in the sidebar again. Resume is growing on me. It will let me run Windows in Bootcamp as I need to for work, and then let me come back to my Mac...
