Re: How to Compile in v.3

You’ll see that “All folders” is set to “Part Heading”. This means that all folders in the project will use the “Part Heading” Section Type by default (that is, any folder whose Section Type is set to “Structure-Based”). This is why the folders we looked at before had their Section Type shown as “P...

How to Compile in v.3

I am still struggling with Scrivener 3's compile function. Could someone post a link to a tutorial? Thanks. The attached image has less options than Scrivener 2. Where are they all hiding?

Re: Vellum Export

Thanks, this should have worked. Unfortunately, Compile placed a page break after each "Vellum Chapter Title" heading and Vellum couldn't handle that at all--no chapters were recognized in Vellum 2.3, the latest version. There were no page breaks after Headings 2 before it was renamed in a...

Re: What to when a word is typed, corrected, the Scrivener tries to go back to the wrong spelling?

I don't think this is a Scrivener, but a Mac OS issue. This autocorrect demon turns up in other programs even when autocorrect is turned off. It loves to chomp on proper names no matter what you do.

Re: Lost my disk during work

I've found that the Finder doesn't always find all Scrivener files. I would recommend instead EasyFind, it's free and drills deeper. If you're comfortable at the command line, FD is a great little open source program for finding files: https://github.com/sharkdp/fd Query: why are USB drives so horri...

Vellum Export

I have a Scrivener project that I would like to export to .docx format for Vellum. I have marked "Heading 2" text throughout. The title is also defined, but otherwise the project text is not styled. I would like my "Heading 2" styles to be recognized as "Chapters" by Ve...

Re: 477 page document is 52MB, can I get this size down?

It's not clear from your question whether you intend to compile your Scrivener document for print or for electronic distribution. If it's for the latter, you can reduce all images to 72 dpi. You only need 300 dpi for print. If you've got an assortment of 300 dpi images created in the CMYK colorspace...

Re: Quotes to Smart Quotes - any way to automate?

As you're on a Mac, you don't have to use the degree mark (' or ") or a Scrivener process to convert these to curly quotes. You can just type type curly quotes by using the keyboard: Alt + ] produces an opening single curly quote ( ' ) Alt + Shift + ] produces a closing single curly quote ( ' )...

Another idea is to create a title page as a graphic using your preferred design and created in a graphics program.

Re: ToC Woes: "Introduction" Added Repeatedly During Compile

Very difficult to say without more information, such as how your project is set up, what Compile format this is (presumably ePub 3 with "Ebook"?), how you set up the contents, and so on. 1. Out of the box non-fiction template. 2. This is compiled for epub2. 3. Contents are as follows: (in...

ToC Woes: "Introduction" Added Repeatedly During Compile

I used the non-fiction template, which is a mistake since I don't know what the template is doing. One of the things it's doing is adding the word "Introduction" to chapter headings when I compile the e-pub.
How can I get rid of this?

Here is the second graphic, which for some reason didn't attach properly.
