Re: I keep getting this pop up.

You may have a corrupt Windows user profile. The easiest way to check for this is to temporarily create a new user account for you computer and login as that user to set up a new profile. Then, copy the project from its current location into a location in your new account's Documents folder. Now try...

Re: Pressing 'Enter' in text editor reverts style to none?

I've just noticed the behavior for the first time, so I went to the Redefine Style menu, and cannot find anything in the dialog that tells the style to continue. NextStyle.jpg Under Formatting , I have selected Save all formatting (the only other choice, Save paragraph style , I assumed was include...

Re: Compile is deleting my paragraph breaks

If you want to keep using Markdown, you can play some games with search and replace, assuming that you're compiling to a format that lets you edit afterwards like RTF or DOCX. Instead of doing two paragraph breaks in a row, do paragraph break SOME TEXT THAT IS UNIQUE paragraph break. When I do somet...

Re: scrivener 3 for windows?

I notice that the beta versions seem to have quite a short expiry time. Are there ever periods between beta releases where there isn't an operable version available? This issue has not occurred in any of the betas I have participated in for L&L over the years. The whole point of the expiration ...

Re: Side-by-side Paragraph and Character Styles Lists Possible ?

It might be worth posting this (or having a moderator move it) to the Wish List forum, since a change like this would likely affect both Mac and Windows.

Re: Unable to download latest beta version as connection closes

The two other suggestions that came to mind for you (and anyone else reading along now or later who sees the same issues) that I have seen this caused by in the past, is malware and misbehaving browser extensions. I have seen a couple of cases of systems that had malware that were unable to make con...

Re: Scrivener can't locate Java after upgrading to Big Sur?

Thanks ...I did purchase from the App Store, yes. If you follow Katherine's advice and can demonstrate that your JDK is properly installed and working, but you still can't get Scrivener to see it, try downloading it directly from L&L and using the trial version to open your project. If that wor...

Re: Unable to download latest beta version as connection closes

If you are seeing this issue when you're trying to download the beta from your browser, try a couple of things: 1) Completely clear your browser cache, close all active windows in your browser and shut it down, then re-open and try again. 2) Open incognito mode and try it again. 3) Use a different b...

Re: RC14 Closes after 17 Seconds

This particular bug is probably almost certainly not directly due to the AV system -- although the fact that even on the 64-bit systems it only affects some systems and not others still leaves some room open for doubt until Qt fixes it. I doubt that it's the antivirus system--I'm using ESET, and if ...

Re: Scrivener can't locate Java after upgrading to Big Sur?

Thanks again! Filed a ticket (didn't flag it as urgent, since I do have a work-around via Libre Office).. FWIW in conversion I only see the options "Use standard macOS .doc exporter"/"Export as RTF-based .doc file" Dumb question for you -- do you have the Apple Store version of ...

Re: Cannot open old project

Thank you Katherine and Devin for your instructions. It worked, specifically I created a new backup to a new location, as opposed to getting the backup from the "automatic backup folder" or just trying to open the original file. Weird. I appreciate all your help. I can't wait to learn V3....

Re: Cannot open old project

Mind you this is the file that work just fine on my old computer running V2. Where am I supposed to find binder.scrivproj on my working version? You may not actually have one. I just looked at some of the backups of my old v2 projects and they did not have a binder.scrivproj file in the project pac...

Re: how to export to v2/v1 version

I have no idea if it is intended to introduce it into Windows v. 3, but don't ho;d your breath. I seem to remember a discussion from a couple of years back that the intention was to have the "export to v2" code added into the actual release near the end of the beta process, but I am not f...

On the contrary -- the opinions and arguments of the developer are the only ones that matter, at the end of the day.

Re: theme v1

Themes are not compatible between versions. You would need to build your own custom theme for v3.

Note that many elements of the UI (icons, etc.) have changed to be consistent with the Mac version and are not user-adjustable.
