Re: Scrivener won't open

24 hours later, I gave Scrivener a try and it opened just fine.

I don't understand why it did not work yesterday or why it's working now, but I'm relieved to have it back.

Scrivener won't open

I have two machines: a desktop, which I use daily, and a netbook, which is used intermittently. I have Scrivener installed on both, and my data files reside on Dropbox. The desktop runs Windows 10 Home v.1909. Today when I tried to open Scrivener, it tries to open, briefly displaying a white screen ...

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

I got the "license manager ended unexpectedly" message two days ago; it went away on its own. Then, this morning, I got the "Your automatic re-activation with our license provider has failed for more than 2 months" message. And yes, about two months ago I had to re-input my activ...

All I know is it worked fine before the latest update. <sigh>

Scrivener's stopped opening Writing Tools - e.g. thesaurus.com

When I select Tools > Writing Tools > Look up in Thesaurus.com, Scrivener opens a browser window and attempts to make the connection, then closes the browser window. Same thing happens when I tried opening other writing tools on the list: Dictionary.com, QuotesDictionary.com, Wikepedia.com.

Re: Activation Required after Update 1.6.1

I never did see the registration window you describe. I think there was some sort of notice about eSellerate. I was in a coffee shop at the time and wasn't sure if I'd automatically logged onto their network or not. (Turns out I hadn't.) So then the Product Activation window came up, the one you are...

Re: Activation Required after Update 1.6.1

I tried to copy-and-paste the code but the fields were broken up into a bunch of little boxes, so that didn't work. I ended up typing it directly and very carefully. I kept trying to fix the N's--that drove me a little crazy. Your suggestion that I download the trial version and use that sounds good...

Re: Activation Required after Update 1.6.1

I'm having the same problem, and I sent you an email with the details. Curiously, when I try entering my registration code, the activation window converts my M's to N's. Then, of course, the code errors out as invalid. Now Scrivener is unusable on that machine. I don't remember having to re-register...

Re: add columns feature in outliner?

Stacey, Jennifer, thanks so much for the quick response. I love the Scivener I've got so far, and am looking forward to the end of the beta. And I'm glad to learn that a build-your-own-column feature will be included in a future release. I tried out the print-screen on the Outline and got good resul...

add columns feature in outliner?

Is there a way to add custom text-only columns to the Outliner? This would be the perfect place to hold a timeline for my story: noting the date/time/season of each scene in a column next to the Synopsis. Granted, I could put some sort of date code in each Title or Synopsis, but breaking it out into...

Re: Beta 1.9 compile/print problem

I realized I didn't need to compile the sections, but could select them in the Binder and print them individually. And I could now double-space the document from within the text view screen. The first three-page section printed out fine. And then the printer kept spewing out the last page, over and ...

Beta 1.9 compile/print problem

I like to print a couple of pages now and then and edit/expand them offline (at lunch in the cafeteria). So here's what I did: Selected File / Compile / Custom Unchecked all the sections I didn't want, leaving 2 sections selected (a total of about 5 pages) set page break before the second section In...

Re: Outline View - centered vertical justification[BUG LOGGED]

Just following up -- this bug was reported 11/3, and logged, but has not yet been fixed (ver. 1.9 beta).

If you have more than a line or two in the Synopsis, the center alignment in the Outliner is quite jarring, making it more difficult to work with.

Thanks!
