Re: Which Macbook?

I just want to say that this thing is awesome. I can turn it on, and be on the internet in about five seconds. It took the very nice laptop I had about five minutes to just load up. I'm sort of in love, and I will NEVER buy another pc again. I used my mom's today, and it felt like a toy with all the...

Re: Which Macbook?

I am writing this from my brand new Macbook Air. It is beautiful, light, and perfect for what I need. I'm still getting used to how to use it, but it's pretty intuitive so far. I'm getting ready to download the Mac version of Scrivener.

Re: Which Macbook?

I have decided on the base 13 inch Macbook Air, and I'm going to upgrade the ram to 8gb! I'm very, very excited to get it. I just hope it doesn't take me long to figure out how to use it.

Re: Which Macbook?

I can't afford the Retina version right now anyway. Ultimately for what I'm going to be using it for, and since I'll be carrying it around a lot, I'm probably going to go with an Air. Maybe one day I'll get a more powerful model, but for right now I don't really need it anyway. I can't wait to get m...

Re: Which Macbook?

I'm almost wondering if I should save money by going with the 128 gb model, and upgrade the ram to 8 gb. That is almost two hundred dollars cheaper, and if I use an external hard drive that should be enough for what I do, and I could replace it later, as you say. You know what, I'm just gonna go to ...

Re: Which Macbook?

Thank you guys for your help! That's about all I plan to do on it. I mainly use my computers for writing anyway, I just want a good one this time. I've been using cheaper windows laptops, and they just crap out pretty quickly it seems like. Everything I've read has said that Macs typically last long...

Re: Which Macbook?

Okay, so you think the 256 GB Macbook Air would work fine for me without any upgrading for now? I'm probably going to go to the store tomorrow to look at them. I stream a lot on Netflix as well, I forgot to mention that, although I would assume most computers can handle that. My poor ancient desktop...

Re: Which Macbook?

Gah, I don't know what to do, lol. Are the 13 inch Macbook Pro's just not that great? The entry 15 inch is good, but it's so much more expensive if I get the applecare protection plan as well. The 13 inch Macbook Air looks awesome, but again, if I upgrade it and get the protection plan it winds up b...

Re: Which Macbook?

My concern with the Air is that there is no cd drive if I have to install something for school that I can't download. Do you think that would be a problem? I was planning to order online, but I may wind up going to the store to play with them before I decide.

Which Macbook?

I'm buying my first Mac in a couple of weeks for school. All I've ever used is Windows laptops, and after having two of them die on me within two years I've decided to finally give this a try. It's going to be mostly for college, and obviously for my writing. I'm majoring in Political Science, so it...

Re: Scrivener and Winword.exe

I think I'm experiencing something similar on my Windows 7 laptop. When I start up Scrivener, two other little boxes pop up, both regarding Microsoft Word 2010. One says "You cannot close Microsoft Word because a dialog box is open. Click Ok, switch to Word, and then close the dialog box."...

Re: Timelines ??

I could also REALLY use timeline software for my story. It's a rather complicated epic fantasy with multiple point of views. Scrivener doesn't have a way to do a timeline (that I know of), but if anybody can suggest some timeline software I'd also appreciate it!
