Re: Keep research PDFs in original place on import?

at the moment, you won't be able to add shortcuts to external documents into the binder. We can add add shortcuts to the binder even in v 1.9.7 if they're Windows shortcuts! So, BJG, you could right-drag a group of PDFs to another folder, with "Create shortcuts here." Then drag those shor...

Re: Seeking reassurance on High Contrast themes

Oops, never mind. The Scriv Beta menus do indeed adhere to the high contrast theme. Windows themes just work better when they're refreshed occasionally, when we switch to another theme and back to the first. Doing so here reset the menu display to our specified RGB color, both in the Scriv Beta and ...

[NB] Seeking reassurance on High Contrast themes

Wow, the Scriv3 beta is an incredible step up. Love being able to refer to multiple docs at a time. Just a reminder that users of High-Contrast Windows themes will want their themes adhered to on menus as they are through the rest of the GUI. My High-Contrast Windows theme is actually low contrast, ...

The title of this post isn't the best...would you mind changing it to one with a question mark? :D

Well, there's the evidence! Great digging; appreciate the V3 preview, nontroppo.

Re: Export with partial HTML tags

Styles in Scriv 3 will enable the user to designate a stretch of text a Blockquote and have it processed as a Blockquote all the way through to the Epub, irrespective of the formatting instructions used to achieve that effect within the editor. And we'll be able to make our own styles based on any R...

Re: Export with partial HTML tags

For copying into a WordPress comment box, for example! I actually wrote an AutoHotKey script to do this, starting from the HTML markup we can obtain from the Copy Special command. Kinda like ungrinding sausage. Sorry, too complicated and fragile to share. Scriv's Copy as BBCode is similar in its obj...

Thanks for confirming, David. The fault lay in my vague instructions on how to reproduce the bug.

Re: Simple HTML paste that locks Scriv 1.9.7.0

Thanks, DavidR. Looks like you copied and pasted the code directly from the code box above. That's why your Scriv editor shows green Courier New, and presumably some HTML markup around the caption. To test the freeze behavior, you'd have to copy and paste that content into Notepad, save the Notepad ...

Simple HTML paste that locks Scriv 1.9.7.0

Yes, RTF and HTML are very different, so pasting into Scrivener from a web page will generally yield uncertain display results. But it's still worth pointing out instances where a particular paste freezes, locks or crashes the program. The following is a boiled-down rendition of an HTML page found i...

Re: Kickstarter to accelerate Windows version development?

I actually did have this discussion with Lee, seven years ago to the week. Cross-platform was indeed a consideration, not the primary one.

Re: 9th NOV - LEE'S UPDATE

His vision was vindicated, too; Qt was a superb choice. So glad Scriv is not locked in to MS's development ecosystem.

Re: Kickstarter to accelerate Windows version development?

I know the Windows team had hell getting outliner sorting working, because apparently it's not like with the Mac frameworks, where I just sort the data set, but more complicated somehow using Qt. Windows has a very powerful ListView control of its own, which I found quite easy to populate from the ...

Since the problem is actually filename truncation rather than character substitution, it's recast in Bug Hunt (Windows) as

Export to file prompts using wrong filename, truncates at first period

Greetings If we drag and drop a document called Let’s see. Will this work or won’t it? into a folder, Scrivener will strip the characters that cannot be used in filenames, creating Let’s see. Will this work or won’t it.rtf . When we Export the same file to the same folder, Scrivener prompts that it'...
