Print Preview: Same selection, different docs (Beta 29)

Hi - If we select several documents in the Binder, move our focus to the Editor, and select Print Preview, Corkboard View previews a different set of documents from Outline View. (Print Preview is disabled when viewing Scrivenings, no problem there. ) 1. Four documents selected, Corkboard View, Prin...

Simple HTML paste that locks Beta 28

Hi -- This is the same freeze on a null image that we reported on Scriv 1.9.7.0. It bit me again today on the beta. Pasted in an email fragment from Thunderbird where the image was stripped but the <img> tag remained. It caused a session lock, requiring Task Manager to exit. Replicate the bug by sav...

Re: I cannot import any web pages

For clarification, do I understand that "we won't see a robust direct web page import in Scrivener 3" is an impression based on your testing of the beta? Actually, I regret the point. It's one I've made on the forum with regard to pasting into a Scrivener doc from a web page source. But i...

Re: I cannot import any web pages

Just to clarify, do you mean Edge as generally available in all Windows 10 builds, or the specific new Edge-built-on-Chromium which is in open beta but has not yet been generally released, and is not yet slated to replace the normal edge until some future Windows 10 feature update? Thanks, Devin. T...

Re: I cannot import any web pages

It has to do, I think, with how the formatting of Web pages has advanced and the code underlying Scrivener has ... well, not. The good news is that this should be working in the new v. 3 when it comes out. It may already be working in the beta version, if you want to try that....the only other alte...

Re: Search by UUID

Couple of belated thoughts. Searching for UUID in Notepad++ would be pointless for users who are seeking the minute-to-minute capability rather than the occasional retrieved value. Anyway, I already have the UUID; I’m looking for the easiest way to deploy it to open the document. It’s true that as a...

Re: [LH1668] Beta 28 - Which pane does the Inspector depict?

Super, thanks Ioa. BTW, this is an example of a bug disclosed by scripting. Mine relies on an entry in Bookmarks to determine whether a scripted nav operation has found its target. Whereas human operators quietly accommodate themselves to road conditions; they'll click around the panes if they need ...

[LH4145] Beta 28 - Which pane does the Inspector depict?

Hi - The new draft manual describes the Inspector's target as follows: 4.1.5 The Inspector...Its purpose is to display all metadata and auxiliary information associated with the document shown in the active editor pane, or if the editor is showing a group view, the selection within that pane. But in...

Re: Scrivener 3.0 for Windows

Hi Samop Yep, 24 free updates plus 27 beta updates on one sales invoice in nine years (to the week). Reasonable folks will agree: the development process has taken a while, but Keith and crew have really stepped up for Windows users. Question though. You sound like a development insider. How did thi...

Re: Search by UUID

Folks, there was a time not that long ago when Scrivener took great pains to obscure the identifiers that connected binder docs and the file system. I’ve always respected that design choice in the forum, while circumventing it privately in my AutoHotkey script. Scrivener isn’t for data geeks; it’s a...

Re: Is there any way to set a key binding to "Open in Copyholder"?

Well, sorta. We can run "Open in Copyholder" via an accelerator key sequence: Alt-n o c . And we can create an AutoHotkey script to trigger that sequence on a single modified keystroke. This thread has some hotkey-oriented starter scripts.

Re: [LH3562] Search Imported Webpage

Thanks. This has been filed. Wow, nice catch Shelly. For all these years I've surmised that the omission of WebArchive docs from the index was intentional. It never occurred to me to question it. Fortunately anyone with projects whose HTMLs are too large and/or numerous to index can make use of a t...

Re: Search Imported Webpage

Is it correct that Scrivener does not include imported web pages in a project search?. Yep, it is so. My workaround is to use a Windows search in the project folder, and then an AutoHotKey script to convert the file paths obtained thereby into identifiers Scrivener will recognize. Too cumbersome fo...

Re: [LH2983] Swap Editors now forces a layout change

Hi - The bug on Binder Selection Affects has been fixed, but I hope the behavior on Swap Editors is still in line for repair or reconsideration. My left editor has both a narrower pane and a smaller zoom, and I don't want these on the right. There should be a Swap Editors that functions as it did in...

Re: Adaptation to small screen for compilation (beta 25)

Greetings - If you right click on the title bar, select Size, and press the down arrow key, the window will be resized if possible to disclose its bottom edge, at least on Win 10 v. 19.03. Just press Enter to accept the changed size.
