Re: Scrivener for Windows 3

Remember this old gem? https://www.literatureandlatte.com/blog/scrivener-3-0-for-windows-from-the-horses-mouth I purchased in April of 2017 but now I hear you had to purchase in November to get the free update? Pfft... I get the frustration, but . . . in the period since Scriv 3 for Windows was ann...

Re: Cannot Compile--this is new

Ah, MM, as is so often the way, you have shown me the light. I don't know how I wound up creating all those files and folders outside the main Draft heading, but you were right, that is exactly what happened. A simple drag and drop, and Compile is now working just as it should. I shouldn't have miss...

Cannot Compile--this is new

I'm running the latest update of ScrivWin on a Windows 7 computer. I can't compile documents from a project I created recently. When I highlight the scenes I want to compile in the Binder and then click on Compile and expand to see the include menu, it lists no files or folders at all to be included...

Re: Creating superfolder?

Thanks very much, AmberV! That's exactly what I wanted to do--I just needed to turn my perspective around. I appreciate the help--one of the best things about Scrivener (and there are many) is how supportive and responsive the team and experienced users are.

Creating superfolder?

I'm hoping someone can suggest the most efficient way to do something that I can't figure out. I've got a Scrivener project--call it A--that's a novel in progress. I've decided that it's going to be the first in a trilogy. I'd like to create a new project, Trilogy, and make A into one folder within ...

Re: Another Scrivener knockoff

I too have evaluated, or at least played around with, a bunch of Windows-based writing software programs. I still have yWriter5, Write It Now, Liquid Story Binder, and Page Four on my hard drive, but I have never done more than poke ineffectually at any of them. Lot of fiddling, but no actual writin...

Re: LEE'S UPDATE - BETA 035 RELEASED

Big congratulations on 035! The .doc-import problems I'd had with earlier versions are gone, gone, gone. (Of course, that now means I have to breaking down that 120K-word novel I just imported into scenes.) Everything in 035 looks fine and acts as it should, so far as I've been able to see. It also ...

Re: [026] Still unable to import .doc files

Jennifer, sorry for the delay in answering your question. I've been out of town for a while with only spotty web access. You asked if I have Word on either of my computers. No. Neither of them has ever had MS Office at all. Hope this helps, and thank you (and the rest of the team) for all the hard w...

[026] Still unable to import .doc files

MM has noted that there's a known problem with the Import function not working consistently for all users when applied to .doc files. I've had this problem on a number of the recent betas, and alas, 026 didn't fix it for me. All my .doc files are created in OpenOffice Writer 3.3. It may be helpful t...

Re: [025]Anyone else having trouble importing .doc files?

Hi, MM-- Thanks for the response (same to everyone else who replied). In my original post that started this thread I neglected to say that I don't have Word or Microsoft Office installed on either of my computers. I've been using Open Office for years, saving my text files in .doc because that's wha...

[025]Anyone else having trouble importing .doc files?

025 looks great and acts great, too, for the most part. I've found one problem, and it's something I've also experienced with some of earlier betas. Cannot import .doc files on my 32-bit Win Vista laptop. Not with the Import function on the File menu, not with drag-and-drop. I can import .rtf files,...

Thank you, Lee, for all your hard work! 025 sounds terrific, and I can't wait to download, install, and take it for a spin.

Enjoy a bit of air and light before the next round, please. You deserve it!

Re: 27th APRIL - LEE'S UPDATE

Thanks, Lee, for all your hard work. Scrivener for Windows is going to be a terrific product, and I'm more than willing to wait until you and Keith know it's ready to release. In the meantime, I'd certainly make a prerelease purchase if that sort of offering looks like a good idea to you and the res...

Re: Import Word 97-2003 Doc Not working

MM has an excellent point: getting the Save bug sorted is absolutely the priority.

I've been importing things into Scrivener for Windows in .rtf format all along, with no problems. It would be nice not to have to resave .doc files in .rtf to get them into Scrivener, but that's pretty small potatoes.

Re: Import Word 97-2003 Doc Not working

I've had exactly this problem--can't Import or drag-and-drop any .doc files into Scrivener. On either of the two computers that are running it. I've reported this issue before. It seems to be pretty inconsistent, as some folks report no problem with .doc imports.
