Re: Linux 1.6.1.1 Beta Released

Greetings, On my system, I have noticed the "About Scrivener" window has no "X button and therefore, there's no way to dismiss it and close Scrivener without restarting the system. I am running Debian 7.2 amb64/GNOME 3.4.2 Jim M Jim M, have you tried to press the "Esc" key?...

Good find!

As for me, I'm still with aptosid, but instead of xfce, now I'm using a tilling manager, scrotwm. Not a bug, but a funny thing, full screen opens in a new window/area.

Re: Beta 1.6 available

Same problem with XUBUNTU on a Thinkpad T22. Any suggestions? Hi, I'm using Linux Mint (which is Ubuntu based). I downloaded and installed the deb package with no errors. However, nothing happens when I click the scriviner icon in the menu. Any ideas? Press Alt F2, type scrivener, check Run in term...

What happens if you try to run it from the Terminal?

Re: What does this mean?

I believe there isn't a .rpm package for alien, so you'll have to compile it from the source. You will find the latest version here http://kitenet.net/~joey/code/alien/.

Re: Screen Resolution?

When hiding the Inspector, one can resize the window both horizontally and vertically.

I have the same issue, on a notebook with maxim resolution 1280x800px.

Re: What does this mean?

The screenshots shows your system is up-to-date.

Discontinued means that distro is dead, so we shouldn't expect further versions.

If you still have problems with glibc, maybe you should ask on a specialized Xandros forum what to do next :)

Re: Curious about running Ubuntu (and Scrivener on it)

One of the reasons I loved Linux from the first time was the CLI. I am some sort of a DOS era nostalgic, I still use some good old DOS apps under DOSBox (well, mostly games to be sincere...) and in Linux I prefer to do a lot of tasks only from Terminal. It's lovely when I have to start in init 3. So...

Re: What does this mean?

@ Knuxchan

Run from Terminal

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

or

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get upgrade

This should update your system with the latest packages.

Btw... Distrowatch listed Xandros as discontinued.

Just found http://www.junauza.com/2011/01/create-your-own-ubuntu-packages-with.html, if anybody using Ubuntu is willing to try to build a package from GUI.

Re: Curious about running Ubuntu (and Scrivener on it)

Although Scrivener runs just fine on Ubuntu, for the moment I recommend you run the WIndows version in WINE, simply because the 1.6 beta hasn't been made into a deb yet, and the 1.5 beta has expired. Who needs a .deb to run scrivener linux? Simply extract the .tgz, and run scrivener from terminal (...

Re: Pretty fonts

There is fontforge - "Besides being a font editor, FontForge is also a font format converter, and can convert among PostScript (ASCII & binary Type 1, some Type 3s, some Type 0s), TrueType, and OpenType (Type2), CID-keyed, SVG, CFF and multiple-master fonts." It has very few dependenci...

Re: Pretty fonts

winetricks corefonts are the same from ttf-mscorefonts-installer. To be sincere, I never liked MS fonts. And I still haven't found a decent looking font for my needs. In scrivener I use Bohemian typewriter font. It would have been perfect if it knew ă, ș, ț...
