Welcome Back!

I missed all of you. It's great to have the forum back and be able to indulge in my favorite excuse for not writing again. Must check the forum. Might miss something. Must check the forum...

Myself.

Jane gave a bonus to Bob and myself.
Bob bought books for everyone but myself.

Myself is used incorrectly so often, it's only a matter of time before its misuse becomes acceptable. I can't stand it!

These raves are so well-deserved. Lots of people wanted and needed a better tool for writing, but no one else had the vision and determination to create such a great one. When so many people can adapt a program to fit their own needs, you know you've created something fine. Congratulations many time...

I second Connie Willis. She's a fine writer and a great storyteller. My favorites are To Say Nothing of the Dog and Passage. I've been thinking lately that the books to write are the ones you most loved when you were young, before anyone told you what was good or bad, literary or genre. My favorite ...

Let us not forget that some have had to pay $1000 or more in order to purchase Scrivener. Of course, most of that went toward the hardware to run it. Keith, you really do deserve a kickback from Apple.

Amazon backs up books. I also have copies of all the ones I've bought on my computer since I'm having to download them there (poor wireless service where I live). I admit, I'm taking a chance on Amazon being successful in this venture. I'm willing to do that, particularly in the hope they will be if...

I am so depressed about this thread. It's just like all the early customer reviews on Amazon. It's not a discussion of a product people have used, It's a gut-reaction to new technology. And before you get so upset by that statement that you stop reading, give me a chance to tell you why I think that...

Thanks for the tip - it was a great bargain. Scrivener more than replaces Word, but I admit to missing Excel at times. NeoOffice is a workable substitute, but I just can't bring myself to like it and Numbers won't do the most elementary things like freezing rows/columns.

Where do you look when you write?

Once, when I was having trouble writing and spending a lot of time staring at the last line of text on the computer screen, a man asked me where I looked when I wrote. And then, before I could answer, he asked, "Is it like watching a movie unroll in your mind?" I had one of those marvelous...

We aren't the only ones talking about this -- a quick search turned up numerous discussions. One person made the point that she's not turning at all, but going back and forth like a pendulum. After I watched for a while, I could see that illusion too. If I watch the point at the end of her raised fo...

I'm getting motion sick watching her. All I could see was counter-clockwise (how depressing for any thoughts about being creative). After a while, she did switch directions. The foot is the key. Watch the black foot and the shadow foot come together and then try imagining her going in the other dire...

Currently, one cat and one dog, thought many of each over the years. Dogs are higher maintenance and they bark. In return, they’ll give absolute loyalty. Cats are affectionate, but they belong to themselves first. Cats observe, while dogs dive in. Dogs don’t hold much back, but cats always keep ...

And then, just when I was ready to give up, the response time is back to almost instantaneous. Perplexing, but most welcome.
