Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

I've finished reading all the versions of Chapter 7, and I think we all did darn good versions. :) It was interesting to see where some of us hit on the same notes, and in contrast all the unique tweaks. I fussed over lack of medicines and birth control. Someone else took care of all the zoo animals...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

Wow, just finished reading the Blue version (I bet we all read 'our' version first!) and I think it held together with the fewest contradictions of any of the NIADs I've read. Kudos to all of us! And endless gratitude to Pigfender for coming up with the idea for NIAD and leading it all these years. ...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

All day long I've been reading the posts, and almost convinced Piggy REALLY screwed up and sent me a chapter brief from one of the years I skipped ... because NONE of the characters and locations and events you all were talking about were mentioned in my briefing. Didn't help when I got the delayed ...

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

Just checking on a couple of details:

Indented paragraphs, you want a tab rather than spaces, yes?

How about emphasis? Italics or bold, actual or marked with asterisks or something?

Re: Novel-in-a-Day 9½ - SPECIAL APOCALYPSE EDITION

You mean the Evil fire-spewing spider monsters from Alpha Ceti 6 haven't already killed everybody except a plucky heroine, a handsome but oblivious nerd/scientist, an eight year old red-headed boy with freckles, and his trusty pitbull Petunia in your chapter?

Re: New forum setup

Sorry for bumping, but. . . . Seriously, no one else has any problem reading the new forum font and color?. I don't mind the colors so much, but the extremely light font, and san serif, leaves me squinting, too. When I get tired of that, I just high-light each post. Somehow the white on black varia...

Re: NiaD 7: Lessons Learned

Maybe it's just me, but I always feel that genre novels involve a sort of contract with the readers. Certain things they have a 'right' to expect to be included or exclude. And if you are not even aware of those unwritten conventions, how can you possibly fulfill your end of it? But, yes, I suppose ...

Re: NiaD 7: Lessons Learned

4) I am really not widely-enough read to undertake such things. This, so much this. When I first came across NIAD I read the first book -- Horror. Fine! I like and read Horror, I could have contributed to that one. So I signed up for the second year, and the genre was SF -- Perfect! I've been inhal...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

Public apology to Piggy and all other contributors: Even though I signed up, and was very much looking forward to being a part of NIAD again, I failed to write a chapter. I totally forgot today was Saturday until about a half hour ago. I know that sounds unbelievably stupid, how can you not know wha...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

Where you *do* lose out is if you want to look at the Scrivener project I share after the event. It's being created in Scrivener for MacOS v2.8 this year, which slightly updated the project format to allow compatibility with Scrivener for iOS. As such, if your version of Scrivener is older than Jul...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

This isn't going to cut it, is it? Sure it will. Piggy sends you a PDF and you return an RTF. you don't even have to use scrivener if you don't want to. He's very accommodating. Dang. You've just blocked my attempt to weasel back out. And as to the build date on your scriv... don't worry about it. ...

Re: NiaD Episode VI: Return of the NiaD

June is good for me -- fingers crossed that this one will be a genre I've actually read a book in. Um... I haven't updated my Scrivener in ages, out of fear of the difficulties some had with the process of converting existing files. I don't remember the details of what the problems were, exactly, bu...

Re: Who's in for NaNoWriMo 2016?

I'm *hoping* to get back to it. The last few years were wiped out by unexpected family deaths and health crises, which I sincerely hope have now gone by.
