Re: Camp NaNo April 2021

How is it going? I'm going to use the month to give some adrenaline to the WIP. I'm starting out with a few days of reading to remind myself of the voicing etc.

(aka more pre-writing procrastination!)

Re: Collaboration

KB has far more access... Is he perfect? If you truly think I was "berating" KB (who I don't know and have never heard of until you invoked his name) Ah... this is a common misunderstanding. “KB” isn’t a real person, but a naming convention in tech / support circles. It stands for “Knowle...

Re: What Happened in Release Candidate 7 GUI

The original joke was to have an option in the settings to engage "Sci Fi mode" and have the only difference be a single line added to the title bar that says "Sci Fi mode engaged". Like many things, it spiralled from there. The interface has LOTS of sci fi references to classic ...

Re: Is Scrivener Actually Worth It?

I’ve long been considering becoming a more active participant in the spamming community, but have been put off by my lack of experience and confidence. If I’d known there were templates available to help reduce barriers to entry for newbs such as myself, I’d have made the leap earlier.

Re: Scrivener vs World Anvil

I thought that SirPixel's post was very helpful. I'd never heard of World Anvil and the only things I know about it are from his post, but I actually learnt enough from the stated pros and cons to learn that it wouldn't be for me, mainly because I don't see the items SirPixel listed as Scrivener con...

I don’t know... I’m pretty happy for people to use any reason they want for deciding not to take part in a beta trial. Not every pickle works in every sandwich.

Re: Cost of Windows 3 version

Hey! Participating in this forum has allowed me to maintain the dream that I have talent without having to actually complete a book for 11 years, and I won’t have you coming in here and jeopardising that with your hard truths! Only kidding. I’ve actually written 10.5 books as a direct result of my t...

PPS - I had to look up what “jank” means. Thank you for teaching me a new word!

Re: Going to be brutally honest: this software is a hot bloated mess of jank.

Yeah. I guess if Word does absolutely everything you want, then all the wonderful writing features that many of us love *would* feel like bloat — especially if the basic paradigm of writing in one way (structure/format) and outputting in another doesn’t appeal. The good news is - you’ve found a solu...
