From what little I know, the answer has nothing to do with the operating system on our computer but the version-either 32 or 64 bit-has to do with the application, Scrivener. Not an exact answer for you but sheds more light.

There's a bug presently whereby the numbering is incorrectly counting by page (section) break, so that might be what's affecting your compile--do you have a title page or any other section that comes before the first chapter? I will answer my own question. I had a tutorial from beta testing that must have loaded instead of the new one. Once I deleted that and loaded the new tutorial, everything was resolved.

The main reason I wanted to get Scrivener is for compiling a couple of books I have written to .mobi format. Now, I am not so sure based on the comments on this thread. It can also be the case that support comes more quickly by email direct to Scrivener support personnel.
