Re: Why Scrivener Doesn't Support Versions on Lion

Yes, thanks Keith for your engagement with your users. And, now that I read this thread, feel free to ignore my post about versions at the level of rtf docs not .scriv files in the wish list section. Sorry to bother you. Keep up the wonderful work.

Re: Lion Versions

Yes, thanks for the explanation. Since scrivener is essentially a folder system with rtf (and other) docs, would it be possible to apply lions autosave and versions to the documents in any .scriv project, but not the project itself? This way we would get versioning (basically auto snapshots) of the ...

iCloud support

I'm sure you already are, but please consider adding icloud support. It looks like it will work even without iOS devices. And, it seems that it will solve some of the complexities of dropbox syncing (ie needed to ensure that younclose the file on one Mac before opening it on another). I would even p...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

Yes, you can get Scrivener to sync when you close the file. Just check "Check external folder on project open and automatically sync on close" on the "Sync with External Folder" setup pane.

Re: Snapshots

I am looking to do the same thing. Of course, I can compare side by side visually, but I am wondering if there is a way to get Scrivener to show me where the changes are. I have an original document, and another that has been edited by my advisor on his computer. I imported that doc (as rtf, so all ...

Re: compiling custom metadata

Oh, also, what is the format for non-custom fields. Lets say I want to title of the doc, or its label to be in the text of the doc and dynamically updated, do I just type "<title>" ? Right now none of these fields are updated with their values on compile.

Re: compiling custom metadata

Hrm... I cannot get this to work. If I click the "Meta-Data" checkboxes I get all the metadata, but if I paste <custom:Call Number> ("Call Number" is the name of the custom field that I want to export), when I click compile that field just prints as is, it is not replaced by its ...

Re: Using Scrivener with Dropbox

Rather than put your Scrivener file on drobox, you need to set up "sync to external folder" to a folder on dropbox. See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVzmMFRGjnQ for a video tutorial.

Export Files (Parents only)

I searched around, but I could not find an answer to this question. How can I export only parent files (and not their children)? I would like to export a set of files to .rtf. However, I do not want to export their children (the files contained within them). When I highlight a set of files (or even ...

Re: Index Card for iPad

Woo Hoo, three cheers for wonderful software developers working together. :D Now that Index Card has stacks, and Scrivener can sync notes, we are getting closer to true convergence. Any chance Scrivener will be able to sync Index Card stacks? Denvogal, any chance Index Card will get nested stacks? T...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts bug?

Ok, I think I figured this out. The document needs to be saved at least once for "Auto-Generate Synopsis" to work. Once it has been saved, it will take the current text, not the last saved state. This seems like a bug to me.
