Re: The case for Characters and Locations

For me the biggest reasons of wanting variables available for names is that: 1) when I start writing a scene, I usually think of the actions and dialogue first and names later 2) often when I'm part way through a story, I want to change a the name of a character or location Not having name recogniti...

not returning to where I left off

Currently: ⋅  on iPhone I exit the app while looking at a scrivening and return to see the base list (dropbox, on my [device], help). ⋅  on iPad I do the same and return to see the same scrivening on one side but the navigation side gets reset to the same base list. This current ...

Re: Scapple for Chrome OS?

I found Gingko recently too and I like the way they think about text bits. I'm hoping there will soon be a way to transfer my scrivenings into it en masse. It's also a little clunky on mobile. I think it's a great start though.

iOS vs Responsive Web

I know there's an iOS version of Scrivener in the works and though I'm very happy about that eventual possibility—I've just come to the conclusion that it might be more advantageous to shift new development toward a responsive web version. Possible minimum features: Scrivenings list Edit Scrivining ...

Re: Projects / Library view

Thank you both for your kind workarounds. I have actually considered each of them previous to writing my wish item and they don't quite deliver the experience I'm after. Putting everything in one project comes the closest but since I've started iOS syncing through PlainText, I think that would becom...

Projects / Library view

I'd like to have a view that would let me browse between projects, a library view of sorts. One of the things I've liked about MacJournal is the ability to keep all my writing "open" whenever I have the app open, all organized on the left side like scrivenings are. This creates the effect ...

Re: Create placeholders for character names, places, etc.

Global search and replace is all fine and good but I think that being able to designate character/place names as variables could provide more benefits than just changing names: - autocompletion for quick entry and no typos - automatic usage tracking (instead of tagging, etc.) - ability to read the t...

Re: On Line Version??

I'd like to add my +1 to this topic not for myself but for the scores of younger writers all over the world that are growing up with web-based being their primary mechanism to do just about EVERYTHING. We have computers and think of software as software. They have texting phones and use whatever com...

Automatic per-line versioning?

One thing that would be nice for lazy people like myself who don't think to use snapshots until it's too late—is an automatic versioning and recall capability similar to what you'd find if you're using a combination of Jetbrains IntelliJ and a version control like SVN or Git. I don't know how much a...

Re: Multiline tabbing and de-tabbing

This is something that would make Scrivener great for doing outlines—especially with one extra feature: for tabbed in lines to automatically indent line-wrapping to the same distance to the margin. That makes it really easy to make quick outlines that stay visually clear, regardless of how long sub-...

Scriv <> Dropbox sync lost

My situation might be a rarity so I don't know if it should be addressed within the software but I recently lost the sync settings between Scrivener and Dropbox, with many edits via Plaintext (iOS) sitting there in Dropbox. I was able to fix it in a kludgy way. I think it happened as a result of my ...

iOS version - siri and keyboards

For the upcoming iOS version, I'd like to offer my insight on a couple of text input priorities. Since Scrivener is writing software and on-screen keyboards of iOS devices are particularly clunky for writing (yet the desire to be able to write anywhere with such small devices is so alluring), I sugg...

trouble inserting text before quotes

Expected: I have text containing a quote mark that I place the cursor and begin typing. The text and quote mark get pushed to the right as normal. What's happening: I do the above and the quote mark disappears from the text to the right and gets inserted into the text I'm typing. Directions: I'm not...

Custom Annotation color(s)

This would just be a nicety but since I use annotations quite a bit* I realized today that it would be great if I could change the color of the annotation text. I looked for it in Prefs -> Appearance -> Customizable Colors but couldn't find it there. Right now my projects are littered with blocks of...
