Re: Scrivener won't open (keeps crashing before opening)

System Preferences never show any application updates (with the exception of Safari to my knowledge). If you purchased Scrivener in the MAS then the MAS app should show you all available updates. If you purchased Scrivener directly from Literatur & Latte Scrivener should prompt you when starting...

Re: Bug: Instacrash after 3.2 upgrade

Answering the questions: 1) no; 2) no; 3) MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 (Mac Mini 2012) I apologize for barging in. But since my hardware and software are almost exactly (except yes for #2, LaTeX) like yours and I do not encounter any crashes on start but occasional and non-destructive crashes on close I ...

Re: Better highlighting of footnotes in Full screen

Are you talking about inline or Inspector footnotes? Inline footnotes do have a gray frame with rounded edges around the footnote text which is part of the main text body. Red frames with rounded edges on the other hand belong to inline comments which are also part of the main text body but addition...

Re: Footnote Numbers Not Superscripted in .docx in 3.2.1

In fact, when I compile to Word, I always end up selecting all and copy/pasting the whole word doc body into a fresh new (docx) document anyway, because the Scrivener-generated ones for some reason do not invoke my Normal template with all my preferred tweaks. Wouldn't Insert/Object/Text From File ...

Re: Footnote Numbers Not Superscripted in .docx in 3.2.1

You could manually add the Footnote paragraph format to every footnote and the Footnote Anchor format to every footnote anchor. But even if my academics days (sadly) are over I am still able to remember very well that in that field one normally has significantly more footnotes than just, say, three....

Re: Footnote Numbers Not Superscripted in .docx in 3.2.1

The reason for the missing superscripted footnote number is that either the footnotes nor the footnote anchors have any paragraph formats attached to them in the compiled docx. Or sometimes (this changes weirdly when clicking around in a document) the Standard paragraph format. They used to automati...

You can add footnote icons to the toolbar also, for both inline and inspector footnotes.

Angry at whom? At the person who obviously did not try the 30 days trial version of "something like" this before buying?

Re: Bug: Instacrash after 3.2 upgrade

Re: Icon. Believe it or not but I know someone who sees a swastika in the now old icon (and doesn't like that at all). I tried squinting as hard as I could but never got what she meant. Maybe it's better now as a part of the "S" is cut off but I don't dare to ask. I like the new icon by th...

Re: Bug: Instacrash after 3.2 upgrade

sauvito, you can probably dodge that problem by switching off the Fade between modes effect in Behaviors: Composition Mode. Thanks Amber, switching off the fade fixed it. And Keith: Workarounds for workarounds for bugs—sigh… Where will that road lead? Probably to workarounds for workarounds for wor...

Re: Bug: Instacrash after 3.2 upgrade

No crash here whatsoever with the fixed version.

But going into and out of Composition Mode causes flickering. (10.15.7, MacMini)

Re: why there are characters missing when I transform my Scrivener-files from Windows to Mac?

Instead of picking a font you could use Document/Convert/Text to Default formatting…. If the correct Unicode default font is set before, that is.

Re: why there are characters missing when I transform my Scrivener-files from Windows to Mac?

Have you checked if this could be font related? Are you using the same font on both platforms?

If not, try a widespread (though dreadful) Unicode font like Arial on both machines and see if that makes any difference.

Re: Scrivener not working on macOS 10.15 Catalina beta.

Catalina is at version 10.15.7 … it came out of Beta a year ago! Are you not meaning BigSur MacOs 11 Beta? Definitely Catalina, not Big Sur, as my Mac does not support the latter. 10.15.7 is the latest official release right now? Then that must have slipped me. As a beta tester on more than one mac...

I am on the Catalina beta too but I have faced no issues with Scrivener.
