Re: nvALT replacement?

I had been using Curiota as a note taking app for a while and I quite liked it. Like many others here I wanted an instant-write app, and Curiota allows that. (Well, almost: For whatever reason after hitting the shortcut key the cursor is in the "optional (!) name" field instead of the note...

Re: Virus Attack! or, Backing Up to the Cloud, Google Version

I'm using Tresorit too.

But whatever cloud service you pick—the automatic backup to zip feature of Scrivener and the options to chose when to backup and how many backups you want to keep keeps you from all the hassle once you have set it up.

Re: Virus Attack! or, Backing Up to the Cloud, Google Version

Maybe Google Mail (you are referring to Google Mail , aren't you?) has a problem with the .scriv package format. Why don't you mail an actual .zip file of your project to yourself? You haven't turned off automatic backup of your projects, have you? By default Scrivener backs up zipped projects to a ...

Re: Latest Catalina beta doing something visually weird to Scrivener

Are you sure it isn’t coming up underneath the edge of the window? This resizing bug means that the interior of the window doesn’t match the exterior, so to speak. I’ve run into situations where splits can get lost. Well, the Scrivener window does expand to the right when I click to show the Inspec...

Re: Latest Catalina beta doing something visually weird to Scrivener

Some additional visual weirdness: The editor panes look all okay, split view too, at least on a single monitor. But for "Show Collections" and "Show Invisibles" the word "Show" is displayed over the icons. Even if the toolbar is set to icon only. When you hide the inspe...

Re: Did Bookends stop talking to Scrivener?

I just checked it, and indeed I have allowed Bookends control over Scrivener in the Automation section too. Wether the Automation setting or the Application setting or both are necessary to make CMD-y work I can't tell. But full disk access is not.

Re: Did Bookends stop talking to Scrivener?

I do remember that at some point I faced CMD-y not working too but that was quite some time ago and I found a way to fix it. Since it is so long ago sadly I can't remember what I did to get it going again. But I noticed that you, Mark, mentioned in the linked thread that you allowed both apps full d...

Re: How to NOT store the Scrivener project in Dropbox, on iOS?

The files in the Dropbox folder are of course available offline as it is just a folder on your device that gets synched when you are online again and run Scrivener . When you follow the link provided above and read Keith’s (The Programmer’s) explanation why at the moment there is only a sync service...

Compiling Eats German Umlauts in Style Names

After Compile German umlauts in style names have lost their little dots— Ü becomes U , Ä A , and Ö O . Also ß is converted into an s . What's really nasty about this is that the German word for heading happens to contain an Umlaut— Überschrift . So if one sets up a Compile format to just create a ge...

The Aeon Timeline folks sent out a call for iOS beta testers a few weeks ago. It sounded like Aeon Timeline for iOS will be released soonish.

Re: Need simpler way to create and move footnotes

If I remember correctly we already had this conversation ages before. Which is not surprising as the inline footnotes have not changed over all those years, at least not significantly. (Or do they?) What I cannot remember is if someone came up with the suggestion that maybe Scrivener could automatic...

There are apps like CheatSheet which provide you with at least all the short cuts for the menu items.

Re: any font suggestions for a serif typeface that will display properly on desktop and iOS?

I too do use Bembo as my "in-house font" on both my Mac and my iPad. Mine is Bembo MT Pro (OpenType).

I installed with AnyFont, because I do not only use it in Scrivener but also in other iPad apps. The installation went absolutely smoothly.

Re: Where to save projects on Mac

Your problem seems to be solved already, that's good. But just out of curiosity: You said you have been using Scrivener "for a couple of years on iPad/iphone". But Scrivener for iOS was released just last year. Are you sure you didn't use one of these sounds-almost-like Scrivener iOS apps?

Re: Crash on iPad, iOS 11 Public Beta, today’s Sept 6 update

Same here, with both the latest public beta and its predecessor. Switching Auto-Detect on and off did not change anything either. After Scrivener had crashed I can see its minimized window (or whatever it is called in iOS) when I swipe up and in it a text from a project is clearly recognizable. But ...
