Re: Scrivener for iPad

My thoughts on the whole "Should Scrivener be on the iPad" come down to this. At this point the bifurcating the development of Scrivener onto two platforms (iPhone/iPad, Macintosh) is untenable due to finite resources. I'm of the belief that Scrivener in fact "should" be on the i...

Re: Scrivener for iPad

Precisely, the keyboard strikes me more as a "when I'm home" type thing for people who only own an iPad and no other computers. I doubt we'll see too many of these in coffee shops. You can't run an iPad without owning at a Mac or a PC. It's a companion device that requires a computer with...

Re: Scrivener for iPad

Remember that it is possible to use a real keyboard with the iPad. Whether carrying an iPad with a real keyboard would represent a weight saving is another matter, of course. If I have to carry around a separate keyboard then I may as well get a small laptop. Unlike a laptop you don't "have&qu...

Re: WWDC - Snow Leopard

I'm not going to fault Apple here. They haven't let the text tools just languish. Leopard attempted to unify some things and improve others but I'm sure things still need to be fleshed out. For Snow Leopard I'm thrilled to have concurrency API that make it as simple as it's going to get, a move towa...

Re: WWDC - Snow Leopard

I agree with Sean. OS X on the iphone and Mac OS X are sharing code when feasible. Core Data was evolved in Mac OS X and now has moved over to the iPhone. Quicktime X in Mac OS X was borne from the iPhone's Quicktime stack. I like this because it forces Apple to keep API small and as lightweight as ...

Check out NeatWorks for Mac. It does a good job with biz cards and receipts and links directly into Address Book.

Re: What software should I get besides Scrivener?

Re Services - is there any way besides Scrubber to manage Services? It seems like an insane oversight on Apple's part, although I suppose it's to keep people with messing with something very sensitive. Any hope of new Services functionality in Snow Leopard? Laurence Laurence...check out the WWDC 20...

I too thinketh it be silly to not seed thy Leopard OS to paying developers. That is most brutish of our friends in Cupertino.

The UI of Nisus Pro is pretty solid. I'm a newbie though so I don't know how to test the limits of a WP. I'd like more output formats beyond rtf. Some XML export options would be nice. I think text rendering will improve and it will certainly improve in Leopard which offers much better text facillti...

Seeing as how Apple was vilified for shipping the Newton with flaky recognition software Apple now knows they can't deliver the iPhone with flaky software of it's dead in the water. Plus let's be honest. The OS X team is fairly static from what I read. This group is tightknit and this year is stretc...
