Trouble selecting text using trackpad

I'm having trouble selecting text with my trackpad in Scrivener 3.1.4, on a 1.3 GHz MacBook Air running Sierra. The trackpad doesn't seem to give me trouble selecting text in other programs, only in Scrivener. I think it's calculating something about my selection and this is somehow slowing the proc...

Re: User Defined Compile Formats and template formats

Hi mc. I have Scrivener for Windows so I have to wait until version 3 arrives for windows. My template works somewhat well enough to make some good work and have it import to Twine. I'll try your suggested precompiler. Your Scree v3 template - Will it work in Windows version? //LarsPM Sorry, I didn...

Re: More: User Defined Compile Formats and template formats

I'd like to have links represented in another format than the default. Instead of this "LINK", I'd like this "[[LINK]]". How do I change this formatting? So I use Scrivener (internal document) links to link between Twine passages all the time when using the latest version of my ...

Re: User Defined Compile Formats and template formats

I already have looked into command line compilers like Twee2 and others, but they are poorly maintained and makes the exchange between Scrivener and TWINE2 unstable. While Twee2 is poorly maintained (I've had to fix whatever bugs bothered me and rebuild it myself in order to use it effectively), Tw...

Re: Inheriting labels when linking new documents

Thanks! My labels mostly correspond to the folder structure, so I think that approach will work for me. If by that you mean that all of the lowest-level folders/documents get Label A applied to them (for the most part), and any sub-documents of those folders should get a "Label B" applied...

Re: Inheriting labels when linking new documents

Do you mean you're creating new documents by creating scrivener links (perhaps by using [[this syntax]] to do it)? Yes, that's how I'm doing it, with the double brackets. If so, you can set up a document template that has the label (and any other metadata values) that you want to default to, and th...

Inheriting labels when linking new documents

I don't think this is a Mac-specific question, just a question. I used to create new documents mostly by splitting, and IIRC they would inherit the label of the previous document. I liked that. Lately I've been creating new documents mostly by linking, and they have not inherited the label. I've fig...

Re: What Caused This Scary Thing?

The same arguments could be made for the Find/Replace dialog. I suggest that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. I can't imagine anyone saying, "It would be great if I could drag the Targets dialog and have it move the entire project to a new folder!" I don't think Find/Replace rea...

Re: Best Way To Do A Glossary/Appendix?

The only thing that strikes me about Barker's book (that I think I would like to do differently), is having some "backlink" effect — a way to jump BACK to the spot you came from in the book once you reach the appropriate spot in the appendix. Right? Y'see what I'm saying? So say the reade...

Re: Scrivener 3 suddenly refuses to open

How can I tell which version of Scrivener I am running? Open a Finder window. Look in the Applications folder (or wherever you installed Scrivener, if not in the usual place). If you're not in the column view already then click on the three column icon. Then click once on Scrivener. The last column...

Re: Daylight Savings Scrivening

I don't close Scrivener very often, so it has been running for at least the last couple of days. Hopefully, you are taking manual Scriv backups or using some other technology to back up your projects? :D :D :D Yes, I back up regularly. After accidentally closing Scrivener and also changing the sess...

Re: Daylight Savings Scrivening

Hmm, this is very strange. I've tried testing myself and haven't seen any issues, and I've checked the code and that explicitly checks for daylight saving time and adds time as necessary. It's even stranger that you are getting all of those popups, since Scrivener only sends the notification when t...

Re: Daylight Savings Scrivening

Yeah, do let us know if you see this happening consistently now, but you shouldn't, or we'd be hearing about it from everybody in a country with daylight saving time (and I'm English, so we've just switched from BST back to GMT). Sorry, I got distracted last night and wasn't watching, but tonight a...

Re: Daylight Savings Scrivening

It may well just be a one-off glitch between the system clock changing while the software was running, and it not getting the message. I cannot reproduce that using manual clock override tests to simulate a time change during the session. It shouldn’t happen again if so (maybe not even the next tim...

Re: An Open Source Substitute for Scrivener

I hope that L&L doesn't mind me posting this. I'm not affiliated with the author, and this software does not run on any of the platforms that Scrivener does. But it does run on Linux, and it is an effective substitute for Scrivener that is native to Linux and open source. There seem to be downl...
