Re: Compile questions

Using no format may make for more versatile output, but absolutely you can format text as you like by hand. As KB says, you needn't use all of Scrivener's features. I find it useful to treat Scrivener this way. It makes it more like a word processor. Do as you will.

Re: What is your experience with Scrivener?

I love Scrivener. I may bitch, but that's on me, and I shouldn't I use it for everything that needs writing and it gets everything I want done. It accommodates my unruly mind and lets me get it in order. Better, it lets me catch those bits that fly by that happen when something else needs to be done...

Re: Titles and bolding

My error was in not clicking on the middle pane in Compile when editing a format. That's where the settings were hiding.

Re: Titles and bolding

Watching the tutorial again and using the Modern settings, I get almost exactly what I want overall and the titles are not in the body, but in the title field.

Titles and bolding

After searching and trying to figure out this myself and asking for help, I'm going try again. I have text in the Editor. The text is formatted as I like. The title for the text is in the title field of the Editor. Everything works fine in the Compile format I use, except the title for the text will...

Does the "preserve formatting" option still exist? Between the two, that would be a complete fix.

Re: Adding a compile wizard that will walk new users through the compile process step-by-step

Those settings you have pointed out fix my issue generally. Thank you. However, it breaks special fonts I use.

I'm trying to get what is in the editor to print as-is. I'd like to use section layouts and the like, but so far, manually doing everything seems to be the only way to get what I want.

That's what I'm doing. I did not know those setting wouldn't pass through. I'm not using Times in the editor, however, but Helvetica.

Excuse me for asking, but what does PDF export in the print dialog have to do with setting up compile in Scrivener?

Mark

I will. However, I am sure my lack of understanding is behind this.

I get Times New roman with these settings.

What are you using to open the resulting file?

Does that software have access to the font you're using?

Katherine

I am using PDF Export in the print dialog to make the file and I open it in Preview.

Re: Adding a compile wizard that will walk new users through the compile process step-by-step

Had a technical issue...

Sometimes I find I cannot edit the text in the part of the window with the ruler. Sometimes, yes. Why? The parts here need more explanation, I think.

Thanks for reading.
