Re: iPad with a Keyboard

A late reply, but I wanted to add that I have and use the Incase Origami keyboard cover / iPad stand. It's light and easy to set up, the only caveat is that you do, indeed, need to use the Apple BT keyboard. There's also the Amazon Basics BT keyboard for around $30 (the price wobbles quite a bit... ...

Scrivener and Cubby from LogMeIn?

Hello, everyone, Will Scrivener work with LogMeIn's new Cubby? I'm guessing that the answer will be similar to Dropbox, et al, but I'm hoping that Cubby is different enough to allow full syncing. Sync with the cloud would be nice, but if it worked 'peer-to-peer' that would be spectacular. (There are...

Re: Editing on the iPad

I don't find the iPad's tap-hold-slide movement all that onerous for entering an apostrophe/single quote or double quote, though, in general, if I'm writing a piece with the onscreen keyboard I'm slower and more prone to typos. That said, it's only fair of me to say that I usually don't decide to wr...

What splendid news! A big thank you.

Now the hard part begins... the waiting!

Re: On this day...

A joyous day! My husband and I were watching the results and when the polls closed in CA, the network news (I think it was ABC) announced that Obama had won, we were cheering and clapping, and then we heard booming outside. It took us a moment, then we grinned at each other - fireworks! Our dark, da...

Re: MacSpeech Dictate

I've heard that 1.2 is the first version to use the Dragon engine, so it should be markedly improved. (Haven't tried it yet myself, though it's on my 'thinking about' list. Right now I just pull out the ole Vista machine and use Dragon NS when I want to dictate, which is, of course, the main reason ...

Re: New MacBooks, accessories & laptop Scrivener tips.

Since I went from Powerbook to MBA, I don't know if the older MBP's keys are the same as the PB's or not. While I like the keys on the PB just fine, the ones on the MBA are perfect, imo. :D Even have a little Apple BT keyboard with keys very like the MBA's for my Mini. Again, I may be comparing... w...

Re: New MacBooks, accessories & laptop Scrivener tips.

Jaysen, It's the same keyboard that's on the MBA, so a completely different design, not just a different color. I, personally, love the MBA keyboard so it's great to see it on the new MBs and MB Pros. :) Edited to add: I think all but the bottom rung aluminum MB has the lighted keyboard. Now that is...

Re: Product names in a book

A small, technical detail: be sure to capitalize any proper names of products. Companies don't seem to mind being mentioned in fiction (usually), but they do seem to mind having their trademarks put in jeopardy by using the product name in a lower-case, generic way. (For instance, aspirin used to be...

Re: Recommendations for external hard drive?

I really like the two WD Passports I have. Nice and quiet and - so far at least - no problems. I also have a Time Capsule that I have set up for Time Machine. Works almost invisibly (I keep the little icon that spins in the menu bar) and since the Time Capsule is on a different floor in my house - u...

Re: What is your preferred keyboard?

I love my little bluetooth one from Apple. Love the touch of it. Different strokes, I guess. The only keyboard I liked in the PC world was (I believe) a Honeywell that I bought at a Vegas Comdex. That was one sweet keyboard. Silent, with a light tactile feedback that was just right for fast t...

Re: Writeroom for iPhone

Thanks, Amber, I had completely forgotten about that. We actually have one of those (since ~May or June). Edited to delete stuff no one cares about except me. :D Also to add: Checked with local Best Buy and the fellow there said that he could do most of what AT&T could do with switching phone nu...

Re: Writeroom for iPhone

Well, duh! I completely forgot about Scrivener's clipping service. (And I'd even specifically asked for it years ago and was - politely - told 'no'. ) I also just discovered that AT&T has extended 3G to my area! Very quietly - as in no announcement or email of any kind - but I went to thei...

Re: iPhone

I bought my 2G iPhone last year when they first came out and I adore it. It's not only a phone, it's a miniature computer, and now with the addition of 3rd-party apps, it's an amazing little device that I like having with me most of the time and reach for 10x more often than I would a regular phone....

Re: Writeroom for iPhone

I think Jesse's solution is ingenious. :D It's a nice little app for quick notes that I can then c&p into my Scrivener project. The iPhone is a fantastic device, but not something to do a lot of writing on. Short of that, between this app and Evernote's iPhone app, I can pretty much track ideas ...
