It that case there is no point to having Scrivener for iOS.

Re: Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

As I understand it, Reepicheep's projects are never closed nor opened; they are just left open on Mac all the time. Therefore, his argument is that they should never be marked changed unless he actually makes a change. Accordingly, the fact that they are nonetheless marked changed (even though he h...

Re: Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

Let me spell this out as simple as possible. Scrivener for macOS marks open projects as changed that have not been changed.

Re: Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

They get backed up when they sync When they sync with what? I'm referring to the built-in backup system in Scrivener, in which Scrivener automatically saves a copy of the project (preferably in zip format) to a designated folder. You mean apart from Time Machine which I have running? The sync proce...

Re: Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

... but that doesn't help if the projects are edited on the Mac for a while and not on the iDevice, because then there is no syncing going on and hence no backup created. So if the project is corrupted, the corrupt version will be synced with Dropbox, iScrivener will say it needs to be synced, the ...

Re: Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

If I understand you correctly, Reepicheep, you have Scrivener set to automatically backup before mobile sync as in the screenshot below. If that's correct, the above comments regarding relying on syncing as backup don't apply. :D screenshot 2019-07-03 09.26.24.jpg I do have that enabled. So yes it ...

Re: Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

I hope you occasionally tell Scrivener to make a backup, as the default setting is to backup on project close... They get backed up when they sync You shouldn't have them open if you plan to access them from an iDevice, so why sync them at all if you are not gonna edit them on the iDevice?? But as ...

Open but unchanged projects marked as modified in v3

From the moment that Scrivener v3 for macOS was released I have had a problem with projects stored on Dropbox that sync with my iOS devices. Any project open in Scrivener for macOS is marked under iOS as having been modified even when they have not! I run Scrivener v3 for macOS with several open pro...

Re: Loooonngg & Frequent Autosaves in Scrivener 3 for MacOS

I'm seeing the same repetative updating search indexes events on both macOS and iOS. In addition to the problems reported in my various messages (such as http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=52067) about Scrivener for macOS marking open projects changed when they have not ...

Re: All Open Projects Marked Changed After 24 Hours

I'm going to disagree with Keith here and suggest that leaving projects open constantly is unwise, especially if you also use iOS Scrivener. In theory, it should be completely safe. In practice, there are just too many things that can go wrong. Since the release of the Scrivener for iOS I've not no...

Bringing Scrivener to the front with the task switcher after an extended time in the background; typically it's the first fronting of Scrivener than causes this.

All Open Projects Marked Changed After 24 Hours

I keep Scrivener open permanently; done so since the days of version 1. Now with version 3 if Scrivener is left running for 24 hours then all open projects will be marked as changed whether or not the user has typed anything at all. Spotted this this morning when I switched from my web browser to Sc...

Re: v3.0.1 Cmd-S saves all open projects rather than current.project

Upgrade (or maybe re-installed the latest it is hard to tell) Dropbox on macOS. Afterwards last updated timestamp did not change. Two minutes ago task-switched to Scrivener and oh look there all five of the open proejcts got a free updated timestamp. Hadn't typed anything into any of them; switch fr...

Re: v3.0.1 Cmd-S saves all open projects rather than current.project

Syncing between iOS and Dropbox is glacially slow. It was relatively fast before the upgrade to macOS Scrivener 3 and the pre-requisite upgrade to macOS 10.13 or 10.12.
