Re: iPad Enthusiasm

Hey Vic, My feeble attention has been stretched in other directions lately. From your loving thoughts that I see you spreading about in the forums, nothing has changed much since I was here last. I was down to Portsmouth in early august which if I remember correctly, is at least the right side of th...

Re: iPad Enthusiasm

I ordered one as soon as I was able (3G with maximum memory). The size factor was the key as it would do stuff (I hoped) that my Touch would not. And I was proven right in a trip to England this summer. Moderate writing only as I'm only a dilettante compared to the lot of you. With a separate keyboa...

R. A. Heinlein

I'm rereading my R.A. Heinlein. Nothing like introducing a friend of the opposite sex to your favourite author and having questions fired at you. Refreshing (both the lady and the books) .

Re: Kiln People

I'd forgotten about this one by Brin. I had started it but seemed to stall (stopped reading it for no real reason) and returned it to the library. I'll look it up again.

Keith,

A $5 increase is modest for all but a few. Glad to hear that 1.1 is out and will download tonight.

I have a Brother HL2040. One year to use up the first toner. Replacement was $80 + Tax. Drum would cost more than a new machine!

I went back to school to become a programmer in the late 90's. Discovered I'm a terrible programmer. Actually discovered in my first job post school that I'm good at data-cleanup.

If you're networked, then get one big one that will stay in one spot. Some desktop units are fragile so buy quality.

I have a Western Digital 120G portable that has stood up to ~9months of use and being moved and loaned out.

Werebear,

You left out the possibility that want but cannot have one. My son is very allergic to cats so.... no cats.

I have the Tungsten E2 and the Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard. Software: Wordsmith for Writing and ThoughtMgr for Outlining. The Wireless keyboard can be fussy if not set up just so but quite good otherwise. As to Typos, that's a question of flow. I've learned to turn off spell checking when using...

 Yeah, was a joke... but reading your post gave me the idea of the... well, how to say it? ... the "orgasmic responding typewriter", maybe. The faster you write, the more it will groan and sigh in sheer lust... We would all write like mad, wouldn't we? ( A hint for programmers: Appro...
