Re: Cross platform compatibility

If I create a test folder on OneDrive and copy it across to iCloud without creating a folder to store the project in (it’s just something I prefer to do usually) I don’t see any of the files which sit on iCloud in my Mac finder. They are visible to be using Windows though. Sorry to be tedious, but ...

Re: Cross platform compatibility

Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I do see your request in the system, posted on Friday. We are running a bit behind given the recent launch of the Windows version, so in combination with the weekend, it may be a business day or two before you hear back. Someone should be with you shortly. What I h...

Re: Snapshots: mark duplicates

For some reason that I don’t know, rarely the Scrivener doc gets marked as newer than my working file in the external folder. So it eats whatever I’ve written since the previous sync. Likely you did something in the inspector with the item. Scrivener considers all modifications to a binder item as ...

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

You set the tone of this recent discussion when you directly implied that professional writers need these features. So yes, you did the start the fire, and wandering around bemused over why everyone else around you is so “passionate” is not doing your argument any favours. Also, the idea that the Sc...

Re: How can i have page numbers before i compile?

I think what you're missing, seedypoet, is that not everyone is like you, and that Scrivener isn't even aimed at the average writer. It's okay for software to be different, and to be aimed at people unlike you. Not everyone is going to want to make a few tweaks to make the input closer to the output...

Re: Section Type > Default Subdocument Type

The manual defines “Structured-Based” in two parts, on page 104 – 5. The first description explains how project settings determine defaults, and the second description states: If the structure-based assignment is inherited from a parent folder of the item (see Default Subdocument Type, below), rathe...

Re: Section Type > Default Subdocument Type

The default subdocument type changes what is the default for structure-based, it won't make it so that every item beneath it is hard set to "Scene". That way you can change your mind, or drag an item out of that folder and have it automatically become whatever it should be in its new posit...

Re: Where does Scrivener 3 for Windows save project files?

There is no fixed location for where projects are saved, that happens after you select a starting template, when you will be asked where to put the project. By default that is in your Documents folder, but it’s entirely up to you. As for backups, those will by default go into your hidden AppData fol...

Re: Where’s the ruler??

The iOS text editor does not have the ability to set tab stops, only left and right indents, nor does it have a built-in ruler control. As noted above, you would make adjustments to the indent settings with the Formatting pane.

Re: Cross platform compatibility

Given the screenshots you posted and the description give, it does appear to me as though there is some kind of transfer error with your cloud provider. Essentially you made a structure like this, if I understand correctly, on Windows: Folder/ Project.scriv/ (Internal project folders) Project.scrivx...

Re: Placing a bookmark within a draft document / manuscript

For a permanent marker, what I do for this is just drop an inline annotation (in the Insert menu) at the spot where I want to return to, and type in something easy to find later, like "STOP//". I'll use "MARK// (reason)" if I need more than one at a time. Later on you can just ty...

Re: The circle game

I would give it another try at this point, if you haven't recently. There was a server issue for a few hours where attempting to check for an upgrade coupon would have returned an error.

Re: Appearance (Dark v. Light) - global only?

Like all Mac software, you either are using dark mode or light mode. Some programs (like Scrivener) more rarely let you choose whether to ignore the system level setting.

Re: Superscript question

The method I described in my first response is still relevant. Using exact line spacing instead of multipliers is the way to go.

You can test for yourself whether Apple has adjusted the behaviour, using TextEdit. I doubt they ever will though.
