Re: The circle game

I would give it another try at this point, if you haven't recently. There was a server issue for a few hours where attempting to check for an upgrade coupon would have returned an error.

Re: Appearance (Dark v. Light) - global only?

Like all Mac software, you either are using dark mode or light mode. Some programs (like Scrivener) more rarely let you choose whether to ignore the system level setting.

Re: Superscript question

The method I described in my first response is still relevant. Using exact line spacing instead of multipliers is the way to go.

You can test for yourself whether Apple has adjusted the behaviour, using TextEdit. I doubt they ever will though.

Re: How to compile with scene names

If you started with the novel template, then you probably don’t have to do very much at all. Just go into compile and: ⋅  Click on the Assign Section Layouts... button, below the preview area in the middle. ⋅  Select “Scene” in the left sidebar, and then scroll through the layout...

Re: Scriv 3 beta Compile STILL not preserving font in ePub??

Yeah, you definitely do not want to be overriding body text font family settings, and many readers won’t even let you try (you should be previewing your book formatting in end-user tools, rather than Calibre or Sigil, both of which use rather stock web rendering previews that are way more permissive...

Re: folder-syncing Markdown files: problem with linebreaks

That’s an excellent setup by the way, I’ve been doing something very similar with combining Obsidian and Scrivener, one for the loose note gathering and connectivity, and the other for the writing. Since I keep their roles distinct, and their areas of the binder separate, it is no problem to leave b...

Re: track changes

That doesn't sound like you're editing text at all, at that point, and I'd suspect most of your Format menu is disabled in that case. The difference between platforms is that on the Mac, all text chunks in the session will be cleaned, on Windows only the one the cursor is in, and then you get that o...

Re: track changes

⋅  I don’t seem to have that issue myself, though I am trying from Scrivenings mode, as that is the only place where you can edit multiple text chunks simultaneously. Come to think of it though, try this one on the Mac, if you’re on your PC at the moment. The PC version still struggles to...

Re: Is Scrivener 3 really that much better than 1.9 for windows?

Oh sure, we got that feedback in the Mac transition as well, along with the synopsis card being less accessible overall. The main problem is that there isn't enough space for all of that information on top of most of the tabs, and it would have been more awkward to only have it on potentially one si...

Re: Binder trouble

This looks like a very old version of Scrivener that is being run on a newer macOS. Make sure you are up to date by using the "Check for Updates" command from the main Scrivener menu (or through the App Store software if you bought it from Apple).

Re: Is Scrivener 3 really that much better than 1.9 for windows?

Out of curiosity, what aspect of the inspector are you referring to as having changed for the worse? I might be misled by your description of it being tabbed, because that's how it always was, maybe you just meant that as a descriptor for the sidebar inspector (as opposed to the Quick Reference insp...

Re: Disable "synchronous" scrolling when working with two editors

As noted above, this isn't something Scrivener can do, and has been observed in a variety of different programs. It's a Mac bug.

Re: All confidence in Scrivener (3 years worth) lost, it is garbage

I would double-check your saved projects on the disk (the File ▸ Find All Projects in Spotlight command can help here, but you can also just search Spotlight for “kind:Scrivener Project” yourself) and make sure you didn’t accidentally load an older version of the project. This constitutes about 99.9...
