Re: Hunting down first line indent problem

How each document is treated on compile is the result of i) its Section Type and ii) the Section Layout assigned to that type in your compile settings. Are the two chapter docs assigned to the same Section Type? If Chapter 12 was assigned to an As-Is section type, that would make the difference. Cf....

Re: DOCX converter passes illegal Gremlins

No, no images in this case, though. Like I say, I have reason to believe there was a NUL character in there. My mindmapping software has a persistent bug: if one uses a particular key command, it introduces a NUL character into the text of the selected node -- very annoying. Spotted the little devil...

DOCX converter passes illegal Gremlins

I was seeing this error when using Scriv's in-house DOCX converter. conversion error.jpg This error only showed up when Enhanced converters is turned off, i.e. when Scriv's in-house converter is in operation. Zapping gremlins solved the error, and I have reason to believe that the offender was a NUL...

Yes, in the other thread that this problem is posted in, we learned that TromboneAl's problem turned out to be owing to something his browser (Chrome in that case) was doing.

Re: Pasting a URL Without Changing Formatting

Are you by any chance using Paste and Match Style rather than straight Paste?

I don't understand this question. A short story is just some text. You can copy that and put it anywhere.

Re: Compile with Word Styles.

If your compiled output uses a style which matches a style in your Word normal template, then that paragraph will take on the look of the Word style. That's a feature not a bug, of course. So, what you need to do is make it so that your compiled output does not use just the same style names for thos...

Re: Boxes and screenplay format

The item you have named "Screenplay" is a container. When you tap on it, Scriv is showing you an array of index cards representing everything in the container.* It sounds like you were expecting to be able to tap on the Screenplay container and see your whols screenplay (all the docs combi...

Re: Compile images only

It is certainly possible. The question is how conveniently it can be done. You can adjust a compile format to simply quash any text that has a certain style assigned to it. This is the "Delete text of this style" setting in the Styles area of the settings dialog for a compile format. This ...

Re: Changing formats

Someone with trickier methods may come along, but in the meantime: I would to this in your original project by applying Tables to what you have. In fact you can easily convert documents with alternating images and storyboard text into tables. If your image/text pairings are tab delimited: <image><ta...

Lit & Lat has an actual Technical Support ticket system, so if you are not getting the help you need from someone here on the user forums, I suggest you open a ticket with Lit & Lat -- the form for which can be found on their Support page. https://www.literatureandlatte.com/learn-and-support...

Re: Chapter numbers bumped up in compile

Are you using numerical placeholders for anything other than chapter numbers? For example, if your work came in several Parts and you were using numbering placeholders also for the start page of each part, then, unless you separated the numbering into two streams, you might see the effect you are se...
