Re: Formatting and 'pages'

You might also want to seriously consider breaking that splitting your text into useful chunks. Keeping the whole thing in one long doc (if that is indeed what you were indicating) sort of defeats many of the happy wonders of Scrivener. You can split your doc at its natural joints and still see them...

Re: Writing a Cookbook using Scrivener

Suppose each document contains either a photo followed by a recipe (or vice versa), or just a photo or just a recipe — and formatting the recipe text portions to your own specification. Now suppose you compile so a page break is inserted before each document. Now you have at least the basic framewor...

Re: Syncing with Adobe Creative Cloud

I work between an iMac, iPhone, and PC. Dropbox works between all three, and I want to know if Creative Cloud functions just as easily. Many cloud sync services do not work well with “packages” and can corrupt Scriv projects. This is the fundamental reason Dropbox is the sync solution L&L uses ...

Not my area, but is what you are describing something beyond working in Scriptwriting mode set to (one of the) Comic Book script formats?

Re: Controlling where new documents are added

If you click on a doc in the Binder to select it, your new doc — you could just hit return at that point to create the new doc — will be created right below it. (If you click on a folder in the binder, your new doc will be added to the end of the list of docs in that folder.)

Re: Trouble selecting text using trackpad

You might test it in Apple’s TextEdit app which has the same underlying text engine as Scrivener. That would help narrow down the location of the issue.

Re: Can't delete page break I never put in - it moves to other documents

It would be interesting to see what the editor show at that point in the script, and what the script element types are registering as right in there — dialogue and then...? Anything to see there? Is this specific to this script/project or does it happen whenever you are using this scriptwriting form...

Re: How can I reset the page for no indentations?

P.S. Changing the Scriv preference for default paragraph format will not alter the format of existing paragraphs. Also, if you just want to change the default format of paragraphs for that oarticular project, you can do this too, under Project > Project Settings : Formatting.

Re: How can I reset the page for no indentations?

This depends on where the paragraph indentations are coming from — you might be speaking of paragraph indentation you are seeing in the Editor area, or you might mean paragraph indentations that are appearing when you Compile to output. If the former, one way to proceed would be to change the defaul...

Re: Adding a compile wizard that will walk new users through the compile process step-by-step

Those settings you have pointed out fix my issue generally. Thank you. However, it breaks special fonts I use. I see. I was expecting you would find the print-set-up font check box was checked and set to Times and this was why you were getting Times out no matter what. I was not suggesting checking...

Re: Adding a compile wizard that will walk new users through the compile process step-by-step

That's what I'm doing. I did not know those setting wouldn't pass through. I'm not using Times in the editor, however, but Helvetica. There are settings under File > Page Setup that you can use to effect your direct-from-editor printing or print-to-pdf, including one that will set/change the font. ...

Re: Adding a compile wizard that will walk new users through the compile process step-by-step

If jcarman is using the print-to-pdf function (standard feature of the mac print dialog box), that would certainly explain everything. One’s compile format font settings do not effect directly printing or directly printing to pdf. So, he woukd be getting Times in his direct output b/c that is the fo...

Re: If Word Not Installed Preview is a Deception

Compile does not work correctly in Windows. Standard MS format always indents paragraphs in a new text document where Mac compile does not. I am intrigued by this part of what you’ve told us. If I understand correctly this is why you are going through an annoying two-machine workaround in the first...
