Re: Writing on photos

If you place your image from an external file using Insert > Image Linked to File, then the image you see in the Editor stays linked with that external file. Control-clicking on the image gives you a pop-up menu with two interesting options. 1) Open in External Editor -- with which you can call up y...

Re: Lost A Major Amount Of A Story I Was Writing

COGnitive, You must have done something else in between the Paste and the Undo attempt. For example, you switched to viewing a different document (maybe did something there) and then came back to the trouble doc and tried to Undo. I 'm pretty sure this is a general fact in iOS: If you step away from...

Re: Problem when compiling my projet in MS Word 2004 . doc, ou in odt

It might be helpful to know: 1) Does this happen when you try to compile any project, or just one particular project? 2) Does it happen only with a particular choice of compile format or any of them? Here are two easy troubleshooting steps to take if you have not: A) Restart your mac. B) Reinstall a...

Re: How to paste text list that will spilt into separate folders or documents ?

I am not sure you can do what you want with copy and paste , but you should look at File > Import > Import and Split . That is a function that would take a plain text document and split it by a string of your choice. Default is to split on '#' on a line by itself. This can probably be made to serve ...

Re: Speech numbering in scriptwriting mode

You can do this by incorporating the <$np> placeholder (followed by a couple of spaces) into your script format settings. Alter your Script Settings somewhat as follows, then compile and see. This only works if you are compiling to pdf or print, though, but I think for your purposes that should be o...

Re: Compile goofing up

With Scriv 3 , when I select Compile from the File menu, Short Story (courier) is selected under Formats/Project Formats. I double click Section Layouts and set the Formatting to double (2.0) spacing for the Scene Text and Save the new setting. The spacing does not take and defaults to 1.2 when I c...

Re: Publishing from Scrivener to Kindle - Where to Start?

In what form do you have the manuscript to begin with? It would helpful to know. As Katherine says, depending on where you are starting from, it may be you just need to convert to mobi from there using whatever the latest tool is for that. That would surely be the most expeditious way, since presuma...

You don’t need to redo what you have done. The command you are looking for is Edit > Sort > Collection into Binder Order.

Are you using manual or smart collections? The docs in a smart collection (being procedurally determined) always show In Binder-order.

When you say “used to”, do you mean before Scriv 3 or do you mean something is mysteriously different since then?

Re: plain text formetting?

It matches the styling of the environment where you are making the paste — where your insertion point is in particular. To test, create a new doc, put your insertion point into that text doc, then use the command. In what way did it not work? gr P.S. You can alter the attributes of the default “no s...

Re: Auto-completion of script elements: pop-up persists

Just to be clear, this bug is not restricted to use of an external keyboard. The same thing occurs if one is typing with the onscreen keyboard. (And, of course, even the cmd-period trick is unavailable with the onscreen keyboard.)

Re: Guidance re working between Scriv3 and Scriv2

And it goes without saying that you should also be keeping a current backup/duplicate of your Scriv 3 project somewhere other than on your ailing machine. Because even though your plan sounds good, you will still want that security.
