Grammar checker driving me crazy

I'm not even sure it is a thing for L&L, but every time I either switch from or to full screen writing view the grammar checker gets enabled (you know, the thing that ships with macOS). I do like the spell checker but the grammar checker is, well, for the brain dead. The only solution I have fou...

Re: I sold my book!

And very deftly done, if one is allowed to quote my favorite character Ilisidi (well, I do love C.J. Cherryh's work)
But - 2020 for the 2nd volume? Thats harsh.

Re: When to quit...?!

Since you asked...
I recently buried a project since I couldn't imagine finishing it. It used to be a screenplay and I tried everything I could to transform it into a novel. It didn't work. In the end, I got bored with it.
Which is the best motivation I know to scrap something.

Re: Scrivener 3 Project open on two computers?

I know that feeling. Awful. Scrivener 3 has its own Backup-Folder, which is in <your home folder>/Library/Application Support/Scrivener (you may need to press the option key to see the folder in the go-to menu) I just hope you can salvage something. I do have my project in iCloud and use two Macs, b...

Re: Styles vs. Compile

Thanks. Either I'm spectacularly dumb or I manage to create a complete mess. Unless I do create my very own compile format I do get font substitution in compile, but neither line spacing nor paragraph spacing is changed. If I create my own compile format, I'll have to adapt my format template for co...

Re: Beta and proof readers

Thank you for the answer. Beta reading a book in Word or Pages would be some kind of torture for me. It works for proof reading. I do wonder if it might be feasible to have a eBook for beta reading. As far as I can tell it is quite simple if all your readers have a Mac and some iOS device, since bot...

Beta and proof readers

HI folks, nice being back in here. Now, when I started writing some twenty years ago it was perfectly ok printing your manuscript and sending it to your beta/proof readers. I do wonder if it would be advisable to use a eBook format for the beta people. And how do I get their notes back? I tried it o...

Styles vs. Compile

I do love the new Styles, they are incredible and I love to use them. However, I'd like to have a option to override Styles when I'm compiling. It's the first time in years I finally produced something I consider worth sharing with a couple of beta & proof readers, where the output is using my s...

There's here food for novel writing : passion, hope, desire, eagerness, (emotional) blackmail...

Not to forget sado-masochistacal flagellation. Always appreciated.

Just before plunging into the dark terror of November a truly caring soul got me this book: The Sarcastic Guide To Writing

A fluffy, comfortable read on how not to do it :D

Re: Nanowrimo 2017 sponsorship ?

Don't you dare. If V3 shows up while I'm busy writing like a maniac .... You're planning on writing on your NaNoWriMo project *before* Nov 1??? Hah! Wish I was, heavy outlining before (around 10.000 words I guess, always am a more masochistic person). But - thinking about Murphy, something ...

It would be a shame if it wasn't! Don't you dare. If V3 shows up while I'm busy writing like a maniac .... Please, you know I can not abstain from getting it at once and try all the new features. Thats probably days of toying with V3 instead of hammering on the keyboard, trying to finish in ...
