Re: UPDATE: "Untitled Document"

They do not. For the vast majority of users, they will represent a distinct improvement.

Great, good luck on the revisions. Look forward to taking them for a spin.

Re: UPDATE: "Untitled Document"

Well... not wanting to belabor the point, particularly since it is not going to change... ...the entire approach of Scrivener is that the documents have a title and that there aren't horrible big gaps there. When Scrivener discourages a visual approach of using clean space between some documents it ...

UPDATE: "Untitled Document"

It appears that the most recent update has inserted greyed-out "Untitled Document" labels to empty files and folders. I find this unfortunate as I had been using empty files, and the previously clear visual space around them, as a way of temporarily (visually) isolating groups of files. Th...

Re: ePub Table of Contents

By "leave the Title checkbox off" I assume you mean in Compile > Formatting - the title check boxes that relate to "Section Type" (Folder/File level 1 +, level 2 +, etc.). I have done as you describe in your post - "set up folders to export a title prefix of "Chapter <$...

ePub Table of Contents

When compiling an ePub, a table of contents is generated automatically using the Binder folder names as chapter titles. This is great, however I would like to use for the TOC the simpler chapter names -- chapter + Number (Chapter One, Chapter Two…) -- I have generated to appear in the manuscript thr...

Re: Indents & tabs in ePub compile

Never found the source of this formatting incompatibility.

However, in a very inelegant workaround I did managed to cobble together a set of odd spaces and various seemingly illogical indent measurements that approximated what the document should look like on the Nook.

Re: Indents & tabs in ePub compile

Good idea, but it didn't work. Besides it would be a pain to have to separate out all my Preserve Formatted text just so I could format it this way.

Same result.

Indents & tabs in ePub compile

More questions about compiling an ePub for the Nook. I have a number of sections in my manuscript that are formatted as if from a transcript of a recording, they appear in Scrivener in the form show in this attachement: ADA JANN.pdf Fist line (for identity of the speaker) - reverse indented to the l...

Re: Hiidden code in Scrivener text

Curiouser, and curiouser... I tried the project replace as you suggested above, putting nothing in the (Replace) With box, as I wanted to simply remove the hidden smart quotes. When I clicked Replace it either hung and did nothing, or crashed the project. This was on a duplicate of my original proje...

Re: Hiidden code in Scrivener text

Well, I posted my last response to you, viewed my post in Safari, highlighted the snippet and copied it, then posted it in TextEdit and the problem was still there. Then I posted that same snippet in Word and it revealed the smart quotes around Murder Alley that were not there in the Scrivener versi...

Re: Hiidden code in Scrivener text

The errant quote/non-quotes are around "Murder Alley" in the snippet below:

People called it “Murder Alley” because of the number

Hiidden code in Scrivener text

Trying to compile for epub on the Nook. I keep getting some kind of weird text-code incompatibility, which produces small boxes with an X in it. I've upload the compile to the Nook Press site, the translation is fine there. Problem is they don't let you download your manuscript once it has been tran...

Re: Locking an ePub

This is very helpful. I now understand why every workable DRM strategy is controlled by the device makers... and will remain so until they decide to change it.

Locking an ePub

It does not appear that Scrivener allows for copy protecting a compiled ePub file, is this correct? If not, are the only options for locking an ePub file for the Nook: 1) Purchasing Adobe Digital publishing suite for $395 2) Doing a full publish through B&N's pubit! system Are there any other op...

Transporter

In terms of Scrivener, would Transporter offer the same pros and cautions as DropBox?
