Re: Also in slashdot

The Slashdot comments appear to repeat the refrain, "duh, don't use a word processor for writing, use vi!" That's slashdot for you, something isn't mainstream until a /. drone can suggest an open source alternative. There is one positive comment from someone using it for a creative writin...

snip Just thought I would post it before I knew how to replicate it though, just in case you might have an idea of what could cause that. Heresy in a Scrivener forum but sometimes a picture is worth a thousands words. FYI here is more than you ever needed to know about getting screengrabs and scree...

Minor 1.0.2 Tutorial intro incomplete

D/L'd the 1.0.2 disk image and installed it then opened the tutorial from file > recent projects. Paused briefly at the bottom of the intro "click here" page. On my copy I needed to expand Drafts (not mentioned) then expand part 1 before opening step 1. Hey, if this is the level of problem...

Great job

Just to add my gratitude for this update. As a veteran software developer I am in awe of your professionalism, your customer focus and the quality of your work. The big boys could indeed learn from you. Just one teeny suggestion, could you rename your download disk images to include the version numb...

Re: SVN solution? (and demo of problem)

I think erikmkeller was right early in the thread when he blamed AppKit for filtering rtfd directories. After a bit more looking, I also think I found a solution: "[OS X] Preserving .svn directories in nibs; restoring nuked .svn directories (in rtfd)." http://svn.haxx.se/dev/archive-2007-...

An amazing quantity of stuff for a .0x release, most people would have called this 1.1. Are you sure you haven't switched career from writer to software author? Will shell out my hard earned readies when reunited with my credit card Perhaps you could try an inverse procrastination trick, decide Scriv...

Unfortunately there is no way in OS X - especially with RTF - to do the sort of version control you are talking about. That is why "Snapshots" are named as they are, rather than trying to call it "Versions", which brings to mind the sort of feature you mention. That said, of cou...

Version control, backups, collaborative development

One thing that software developers are used to is the use of version control software so that many developers can work on the same code base at the same time. This is done by using some kind of repository which developers can check files in and out of. There are facilities for merging back in change...

Scrivener for consultants and trainers

Hi everyone, I'm not a writer so be kind. My business is as an IT consultant and trainer. I was wondering about people's experience in using SC for drafting proposals and the like, presumably I'd just construct a proposal template and fill in the various sections. However, how about preparing traini...
