Re: Contents of texts and folders are missing, blank

Please try disabling your antivirus software, then reinstall Scrivener 3.

All known instances of this problem involve security software deciding that Scrivener 3 is bad, and refusing to allow it to open files.

Re: Is there a way to automatically turn hyperlinks into footnotes when compiling?

Place the footnote after the hyperlink, not on top of it.

In the Project -> Project Settings -> Formatting pane, check the first box to "Use footnote marker." That will make it easier to create footnotes without selecting text.

Re: How do I remove hashtag (#) for every paragraph break?

The compile preview pane does not use text from my manuscript, it's just fake filler text. So there is no way to see what compile format is going to throw the random hashtags. It is exceedingly frustrating. They aren't "random." They are generated, depending on your settings, by either a ...

Re: Keeping track of last edited position

I think we're talking about two different things. If you close Scrivener and reopen it, you should see the same view. But it sounds like you're talking about moving to different parts of the interface?

Why do you have the entire draft of a novel in a single document?

Re: Is there a way to automatically turn hyperlinks into footnotes when compiling?

In Scrivener, create the hyperlink in the running text. Then, create a footnote with whatever content you want. When you compile for the web, remove the footnotes. When you compile for PDF, remove the hyperlinks. Both options can be found in the general settings tab of the main Compile screen. See S...

Re: Is there documentation on the differences between the Scrivener 3 Windows and Mac versions?

What do you mean by "major workflow" differences?

There are differences in Markdown and other Compile post-processing workflows, but Scrivener itself should be effectively identical between the two platforms.

Did you look at the Session Target pane of the Project Target Options panel?

Re: Access Text files with text editor / Workaraound for using on Android

The Sync with External Folder function still exists and is still the recommended solution to this problem. Editing the text files in the project file directly was never recommended, even though it was (and remains) technically possible. Katherine Thanks for the reply. But where do I find the text f...

Re: Auto-generated table of contents has duplicate title

The Compile functions are completely different between Scrivener 1 and Scrivener 3, and settings do not automatically translate between the two. An upgrade guide for Scrivener 1 users can be found here:

Re: Need accurate word count of project

Ask your editor what tool they use, and use that one. As part of a dispute with an editor, I once counted the exact same text in Scrivener, Word, pages, and Wordpress. Got four different totals. Yes, the <$wc> placeholder will give what Scrivener believes to be the accurate count of your output manu...

Re: Need Scrivener Expert to help me format Short Story collection

Page Headings are defined as part of the Page Settings pane in the Compile Format editor. See Section 24.20.6 in the (Mac) Scrivener manual for more information. Other than that, the Novel formats are probably a pretty good place to start, but you'll want to make sure you use a Section Layout that u...
