Re: Moving from Windows to Mac...and back again?

Do you have Scrivener 3 on the PC?

Re: Document icons in a project not syncing between Mac & Windows

Not as elegant as icons, but you could use Labels for this and show the Label Color in the Binder.

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

This thread has jumped all over the place, so I'd like to bring it back to reality by describing the scenario I commonly see. * User stores projects "in Dropbox," (or iCloud, or OneDrive) but has no Time Machine volume or third-party backup service. Probably the user depends on a free-leve...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

There IS no static copy of a project when the project is open. Where did you lose the thread? Backblaze is set for continuous backup at my machine, and I don't see another option (though it may exist). Sure there is. By default, Scrivener would have made a backup the last time the project was close...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

I found an answer to those questions. Backblaze treats a package the same as any other folder, so I would not trust it with open projects. https://help.backblaze.com/hc/en-us/articles/217665608-How-Does-Backblaze-Deal-With-Mac-OS-X-Packages- What does "trust" mean in this case? The whole ...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

Maybe this would be a better question for BackBlaze support? Katherine Do you think Backblaze knows what their continuous backup does to an open Scrivener project? If we're talking about a scheduled backup, that's a different story, but Backblaze defaulted to continuous backup, and I don't see a wa...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

Maybe this would be a better question for BackBlaze support? The difference between a "backup" service and a "synchronization" service is right there in the name. A backup is a static archive, preserving the state of the system on the backup date. If I want to have BackBlaze send...

Re: Opening a Scrivener Document is taking forever!

What changed?

New version of Mac OS? New version of Scrivener? New hardware?

In conjunction with your other post, about text being missing, is there an issue with your internet that might keep Scrivener from downloading cloud-stored files?

Re: All of my documents are empty????

This most commonly results when Scrivener has access to the index file used to build the Binder, but not the component documents. The most common cause is a synchronization error or a "smart sync" situation where, for example, the Binder is stored locally but the synchronization tool has &...

What version of Scrivener? What version of Mac OS? And did you upgrade either recently?

Re: Compile not complying: how to remove indents in cascading numbered paragraphs?

This is something to adjust via the Section Layout specification. See Section 24.2.3 in the Scrivener manual.

Are things formatted the way you want in the Editor? If so, it's probably just a matter of telling the layout to *not* override the Editor formatting.

Re: Confirm Quit

If the project is only text and takes a ling time to open, your machine is abysmally slow or there’s a serious problem of another kind. Even a million words would be not many megabytes. What he said. Do you have a lot (and I mean a LOT) of snapshots? Are you saving to a USB stick or other relativel...

Re: KindleGen Out vs Kindle Previewer 3 in

It is now April 2021 and Scrivener still can't generate a Kindle mobi file. Still demanding that I upload Kindlegen, which no longer exists. I use your program to write and to publish, but now it's broken when trying to create files for my biggest customer. Seriously? I have been happy with Scriven...

Re: Scrivener users, where do you backup your files?

I have personally helped a significant number of users who have lost work because "I had it backed up to Dropbox," except the change they made obliterated important data across all synchronized devices and they didn't have Dropbox versioning with their free account. Dropbox is a useful syn...

Re: suggestion : some kind of clue that a document is open in an external app

Why not use the Mac OS Mission Control function? It will show all open windows at once, much more quickly than you could scroll through the Binder looking for flags. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204100 Katherine If by mistake I save and close a project, and quit Scrivener before saving and clo...
