Re: cannot save a file as template too large

Why are there hundreds of files? If there are hundreds of files in the Docs folder, but *not* in the Binder, then there are some serious issues with the project that you probably want to resolve before saving it as a template. There is a very limited number of ways in which that situation could aris...

Re: Open Windows Scrivener 3 Beta file in Mac

Easiest way to transfer it is to create a zipped backup file via Scrivener's own tools. Then you can transfer that file to the Mac by any convenient method, unzip it, and you'll be ready to go.

Re: Rename Project?

I mean that the internal names of the components of the .scriv folder are completely irrelevant from the user perspective, and that renaming those components via the file system can have unintended and bad consequences for the integrity of your data. But yes, you can change the metadata inside the p...

Re: Rename Project?

The only name that you should worry about (or change) is the name of the .scriv folder. Everything inside of it should be managed exclusively by Scrivener itself. The .scrivx file isn't the "actual project file," it's the master index to the project *folder,* which is the .scriv folder. Ka...

Re: Problem Changing Author Data on Manuscript

The quick and easy answer is to simply delete the placeholder responsible for the incorrect information, and replace it with the correct information. It will be either in the title page document or the Header/Footer section of the Compile format.

Topic moved to beta forum, as the release version doesn't support styles.

Re: Generating a list of tagged items?

I wouldn't use links for this. Simply have a chunk of text with images (or placeholders) interspersed. Then split that chunk into separate documents so that each image (or placeholder) has its own. They stay in the same order that they'll ultimately appear in the running text. That way you can use S...

Re: Separators between sections with subdocuments in Compile (Scrivener 3)

All of this is managed through the Separators pane in the Compile Format editor. In addition to the default separators, you can define different ones for specific Section Layouts. See Section 24.4 in the Scrivener 3 manual. Note that in the layout you describe, the separators "belong" to t...

Re: What happens to the beta version when I get the 3.0 one?

The beta won't transform into the release version because it has no registration capability. The beta will expire on whatever the pre-planned expiration date is. The release version will become downloadable via our downloads page. You'll be asked to purchase a license once the trial period has expir...

Also, if a Mac application has an Undo feature, it will almost certainly be on the Edit menu.

Excellent!

If a Mac Scrivener 3 compile format fails to work in the Win Scrivener 3 beta, you should probably report that as a beta bug.

But the answer to your question is probably, "Choose 'Backup Now' ". On the other hand, when you installed Scrivener, you should have set it to backup to a designated folder automatically every time you pause typing—default 2 seconds. But if you don't remember where those backups are bein...

Re: Lost content updating to 3.1.3

In both the Mac and Windows versions, "Backup Now" creates a backup to whatever your automatic backup location might be. It's a good choice if you want to make sure you have a backup before a major reorganization of the project, for example. "Backup To" allows you to choose an al...
