Re: Scrivener does not save in USB, only in Dropbox

Well, you don't need to save to USB in order to work on projects offline. If you have the Dropbox software installed on the PC, then Dropbox will automatically maintain copies *both* on the PC and on their server, That's sort of the whole point of the service. For the USB issue, the first thing to c...

Re: Dropbox sync is too restrictive - any other option, even iCloud??

So maybe this is heretical but I don't think the iOS version is anything really special compared to the desktop, its like a pale shadow of the desktop version. I wouldn't phrase it quite that way, but iOS Scrivener has never claimed to duplicate the full functionality of desktop Scrivener. The plat...

Re: Malcolm Gladwell Technique

Remember that Scrivener lets you create as many projects as you want. If it were me, I would create a new project for each potential book that might emerge from the pile. Then I would drag and drop from the original to the most appropriate destination. Next, I'd pick the most promising of the destin...

Re: Exporting and re-importing with full structure

Compile to RTF. In the right-hand pane of the main Compile screen, click the gear icon, then check the box to include links back to Scrivener. Click the question mark next to the option for a description of what it does. See Section 20.2.3 in the Scrivener (3) manual for more information.

We will not be announcing a release date. (Well, not in advance. We'll certainly announce the actual release!)

Status updates can be found in the pinned announcement thread at the top of this forum.

Re: Windows PC and iPad

To answer your original question, yes, iOS Scrivener can read the Scrivener 2 (Mac) project format. It cannot, however, convert a project between Scrivener 2 and Scrivener 3.

Re: Which is better with Scrivener: MacBook Air or 27-inch iMac?

You can never have too much screen real estate. I'd get the iMac unless you have a clear need for portability.

My own setup pairs a 27" iMac with an iPad Mini with external keyboard.

Re: using labels for academic writing??

Well, you can assign both labels and keywords. Labels are limited to one per item, but can be used as the basis for the "swim lane" view. Keywords allow you to assign more than one. How to use them? What's your field? They can theoretically represent anything that you need to keep track of...

Re: How can I compile a Table of Contents with Level1 titles only?

If Apple Books is ignoring the "hidden" attribute then no, there isn't much you can do about it in Scrivener. You *could* fix the problem by merging documents in Scrivener so that the Scrivener Binder matches what you want to see in the ebook ToC. But that's obviously a fairly radical step...

You already do in the Scrivener sense. The file.scriv thing in Finder? That's a project.

Re: Definitions

I was going to suggest using Comments, but I like Brookter's solution better. It creates a project-wide glossary, while Comments and Notes are more tied to individual documents. There are also a couple of personal wiki tools out there that you might consider if you're not otherwise a Scrivener user....

Re: Definitions

What do you ultimately want to do with the definitions? Are they for your own use, or will you want to incorporate them into the finished manuscript?
