Re: Use Date In Backup File

Pro: easy to tell which backup is which.

Con: none that I can think of.

Re: Extensive edits lost

I must say I'm absolutely stunned by the sheer numbers of people who come on this forum to say that Scrivener has somehow eaten their work, and that the responses are so mild, like "well, find your backups" --- as if it was perfectly normal for a program to lose one's work! Hello??!! It's...

Re: Extensive edits lost

JimRac - good points. If a project is broken during a botched sync, is it just the Binder (the XML file) that is actually corrupted? If so, even damaged projects can be re-constructed by going into the project folders and retrieving the RTF text files. It's a pain, but doable. Any file that has cha...

Re: ToC Woes: "Introduction" Added Repeatedly During Compile

Did you put "Introduction" in the Title Prefix or Suffix for that section layout, by any chance?

Re: Two Scriveners (2 licenses) on SAME Computer-How? Possible?

On the Mac, each user has a completely separate Applications folder and a completely separate Documents folder. Install Scrivener for each user just as you would for yourself.

Re: Scrivener 3 Freezing OSX High Sierra

As suggested, run Activity Monitor to see what is actually consuming the CPU. If it's definitely Scrivener, use the View -> Sample Process command, and send the results to our support address. You might also use the Console application (in your Applications/Utilities folder) to see if any error mess...

Re: Help with Styles

Here's what I would do: Split the document so that the OCR-mangled sections are in their own sub-documents. (Documents -> Split.) Set the formatting you want as the project default. (Project -> Project Settings -> Formatting) Select the OCR-mangled sub-documents, and use the Documents -> Convert -> ...

Re: Files open but don't display?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand the issue.

What version of Scrivener do you have?

What happens when you try to open an existing project?

Mac Scrivener and iOS Scrivener are separate products requiring separate purchases.

iOS Scrivener is only available via the Apple iOS App Store.

Re: Dropbox Sync Issues

It could be, sure. I guess I'll keep an eye on it. I tend to walk away and leave the Mac on when I've finished, but yesterday I noticed (to your exact point :) ) an upload of a 1MB file was taking 16 minutes. 16. 16 minutes? With a fiber connection? Something's not right there, and it isn't Scriven...

Re: Could Apfs snapshots support mean faster more reliable sync?

I am not sure to what extent scrivener could make use of this but wouldn’t support for apfs snapshots, at least with macos and ios platforms, greatly improve reliability and speed of device syncing since only changes would have to be updated rather than entire files? I’m by no means an expert just ...

Re: Dropbox Sync Issues

/scratcheshead. With OneDrive, the issue with Scriv sync seemed to be Scriv would save often, confusing OD, and borking the cloud data files. Does Scriv 3 sync with a higher frequency that now causes DP issues? I mean, if mine is an isolated case it's probably just DP being a clown. But if it's not...
