Re: Vellum and Scrivener Settings

That article predates both the release of Scrivener 3 and the introduction of Vellum. As I said, you can clean these up in the original manuscript with the Edit -> Text Tidying -> Remove Empty Lines Between Paragraphs command. Why doesn't the Compile command do this? How is Compile supposed to know ...

Re: Scrivener iOS syncing via Dropbox continues to crash the app

Moved to iOS Bug Hunt forum.

Does Dropbox itself work correctly? Try opening the Dropbox application on the device and creating a file from there. (Just an ordinary text or image file -- you can't create a Scrivener project from the Dropbox app.)

Re: Can't view web pages imported with Scrivener 2 for Mac on Scrivener 3 Beta on Windows.

Moved to Windows beta forum.

This could also be a result of a synchronization error. Do text files created on the Mac appear correctly?

Re: Table of content after compilation

View -> Text Editing -> Show Ruler.

For an 8.5" wide page (US Letter size) with 1" margins, there are only 6.5" left for text.

For a 210 mm wide page (A4 size) with 25 mm margins, there are only 160 mm available for text.

Re: Vellum and Scrivener Settings

Edit -> Text Tidying -> Remove Empty Lines Between Paragraphs.

It's not accurate to say that Scrivener is treating empty lines as scene breaks, though. It's just passing through the formatting you gave it.

Re: iOS Update?

iOS Scrivener version 1.2 is now live in the iTunes store.

Among other things, it includes an important fix for iOS 13 compatibility: please install the Scrivener update before installing iOS 13 on your device.

Re: Project Replace: any suggestions for how to clean up a mess ?

Have you looked at Scrivener's own automatic backups? You can find them by going to Scrivener -> Preferences -> Backups, and opening the backup folder in Finder. By default, I think Time Machine runs every fifteen minutes or so, so it might provide a better alternative than you think. But either way...

Re: Table of content after compilation

Yes. It's not the length of the title, it's that the ToC was created with one page width and compiled with another. Again, you can use the Ruler in the Editor view to check this.

Re: Table of content after compilation

The most common issue is a mismatch between the page size in Scrivener and the page size in the compiled document: the Table of Contents items won't fit on a single line, and wrap to the next one. You can check this by enabling the Ruler in the Scrivener editor.

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

The root cause of the problem was an issue with the licensing toolkit that we use. This problem now appears to be fixed, and you shouldn't have any further problems.

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

As a professional in the IT world for over 25 years, I can promise you that "call home" license activation has been a thing for as long as the ability to connect over the Internet has been a thing. Before then, you'd have to install a license activation server on your local network. If so...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

It's certainly possible that Wine's .NET support is contributing to any connectivity issues. And it does appear that the new update has fixed the issue for most Windows-based users. So I wouldn't discount the possibility that Wine is a contributing factor. Our Wine-based users appear to congregate i...

I'm sorry, I missed that you were using Catalina before. Are you able to duplicate the problem with Mojave?
