Re: Scrivener Can't Open Scrivener Format

Are you letting Dropbox "optimize" storage in any way?

Can you open other projects normally, for instance the interactive Tutorial from the Help menu?

Re: Scrivener Can't Open Scrivener Format

Where is the file stored? Locally, or with a cloud service? Has it moved since you last successfully opened it?

Re: Transferring from one computer to the next.

If you don't want to install the Dropbox software for whatever reason, I'd recommend using Scrivener's Backup To command to create a ZIP backup from within Scrivener, and transferring that.

Preserve formatting, maybe?

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

Most of the limitations of iOS Scrivener have nothing to do with the text engine anyway. Certainly the text engine is a separate issue from the Compile command, the freeform corkboard, or Scrivenings mode. All of which, incidentally, are unique to Scrivener and do not exist in the other examples of ...

Re: Question about pricing

Collider is correct: the free upgrade is available to anyone purchasing Win Scrivener 1 after the release of Mac Scrivener 3. Which was November, 2017.

Re: Will iOS Scriv Work in iPad OS?

And I don't know what "custom code and frameworks" apps like Apple Pages, or for that matter, the iOS version of Microsoft Word use. But Microsoft Word on iOS can handle essentially all the formatting that Microsoft Word everywhere else can. Probably more to the point -- if anyone actuall...

Re: Publishing from Scrivener to Kindle - Where to Start?

Scrivener may not be the right tool for the job. Its strengths are in research and writing. While it can do final formatting, it is not the tool I would use if I were starting with a complete manuscript.

Keith has said that if it weren't for Apple's frameworks, Scrivener wouldn't exist.

Re: random sort

How about this: Using the tool of your choice, create a list of 800-1000 random numbers in a text file. One number per line, with a delimiter like '#' between lines. Use the Import and Split command to import this file into Scrivener. You should get 800 individual files, each with a number as its ti...

Re: Compile goofing up

If you've done most of your formatting in the editor, you may find that the "Default" Compile format is the best place to start. It ignores most of the capabilities of the Compile command, just passing your text straight through. You can also use the Print Current Document command to print...
