Re: Scrivener 3 Free Upgrade?

You should not need a license to use the Windows Scrivener 3 beta, as it is not yet a released product. However, you do need to make sure you have the latest beta version, which you can download here: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=40621 If that doesn't resolve the ...

Re: Modify the default body text

Note that you can also set a project-level default, in the Project -> Project Settings -> Formatting pane. If you've set a Scrivener-wide default, but a particular project doesn't honor it, that's probably why. Be especially alert if you're using one of our supplied project templates, since some of ...

Re: Sync Error Won’t Go Away

In the Windows version of the project, with Scrivener closed, look for the Files/Docs subfolder. You're looking for files with names like "Conflicted copy of..." Drag those out to a location like your Desktop. Resync everything and see if the error message goes away. If it does, re-import ...

Re: Question on Beta Expiration

Is the implication then that exporting to the format prior to the v3.0 format will be an on-going, supported feature in the Mac version after v3 for Windows comes out? By extension, does that also mean that export to "version 2 for Mac/v1 for Windows" will also come to Windows v3 for use ...

Re: Can't Select Editor Window

No it doesn’t. If you click outside the title field the split window isn’t selected, and this was Tromboneal’s initial question/observation. If I select three different documents in the binder, from different "enclosing folders" there is no title at all in the corkboard title bar and clic...

Re: Question on Beta Expiration

At this late stage, I doubt they'll be doing that; I think the whole point of the export from the Mac version was to make it easier to use v3 for Mac while sharing your projects with Windows v1. And once they do release v3 for Windows, I don't see them maintaining that export option on the Mac side...

Re: Can't Select Editor Window

No, it doesn't. If you click anywhere in the title bar except on the title itself, that editor window is not selected. In Scrivenings mode you get the title of the current scrivening in the title bar and if you click the title that editor is selected and gets the blue color and you can edit the tit...

Re: Infuriatingly Slow at Times

I second Ioa's recommendation about images. Also, if those images are in the Draft folder and you're trying to create a Scrivenings session that loads them all at once, you're undermining Scrivener's best tool for handling large projects. Scrivener only loads the documents that you're actively worki...

Re: Can't Select Editor Window

I'm sorry, but I'm still not understanding your description. Once you make one pane of the split editor view 'active,' whether by clicking in the body of the pane or in the header bar, a blue line will appear along the bottom of the header bar. Clicking through the Scrivenings/Corkboard/Outline icon...

Re: Scrivener hangs on opening any project and also on trying to create new project

Launch without loading any projects by holding the Shift key when the program starts.

If you still get the beachball, reinstall from a fresh download.

If that doesn't help either, open a support ticket:

On the Windows system, move the project out of Dropbox. Confirm that it is intact, Make a backup. Synchronize both devices, which should cause the project to disappear from those devices. On the Windows system, move the project back into Dropbox. Synchronize everything. Problem should be resolved. K...

Re: Use 'Find by Formatting' to locate text with no style .

Most of the text in your manuscript should typically not be styled. We recommend assigning styles only to block quotes, headers, and other "special" text. There is no Scrivener equivalent of Word's "Normal" style. For that reason, searching for text with "no style" shou...

Re: Can't Select Editor Window

What lunk said.

Also, the pane with the blue bar is the one affected by the Binder. There's a blue line under that that indicates the active pane.

Re: Can't Select Editor Window

What exactly are you trying to do in the screenshot?

If you have two editor panes, the one with the blue border at the top is the active one.

Re: Problem with working Scrivener on different devices

Moved to beta forum.

Yes, the backup folder needs to be accessible from the local system. It's a Scrivener setting, not a project setting, so you'll need to define one for each device that has Scrivener installed.
