Re: Would so LOVE to see Scrivener 3 for Windows during the Coronavirus Shutdown

I know it's become something of an itch to scratch, checking if v3 for Windows is out yet, but... It really makes no difference to me whatsoever. I'm using the v3 beta very happily, have been for ages, and if it suddenly became non-beta my writing life wouldn't change one iota. I probably wouldn't n...

Re: Music for writing

Some great suggestions here. I love peaceful ambient music to write to, of any genre. But is it just me that also likes to write to youtube coffee shop background noise? There are a few out there, and you get a favourite, it lasts for an hour - perfect for drifting away to and waking up an hour late...

Re: MasterClass: who's tried it?

I feel bad about Joyce Carol Oates now, reading that. It's patchy in a good way, ok? :) But none of these masterclasses are worth the billion pounds they're charging, in all honesty. That's not the writers' fault in any way. If the classes were $10 or ten pounds each, they'd be totally worth it.

Re: MasterClass: who's tried it?

The James Patterson Masterclass was chock full of practical advice. I also checked out the Joyce Carol Oates short story one, and it's patchy. A couple of good chapters with practical suggestions (I loved the idea of a short story in a Q&A format), but a lot of stuff you know already, like how i...

Re: MasterClass: who's tried it?

The Neil Gaiman one was amazingly good fun, because he's obviously such an interesting guy. But it didn't really change how I write or give me any concrete things to do to be a better writer. You can get much the same effect from his freely-available blogs about how to write. The one exception was t...

Re: Online Scrivener clone

Goodness, I seem to have provoked a minor kerfuffle. :D I should have been clearer - Scrivener is obviously the best writing program out there, and remains my firm favourite. It's a fully-equipped workshop that's fixed in place in your garage, where Dabble is a Swiss Army knife that you can carry ar...

Re: Online Version (?)

It's well worth checking out Dabble - https://www.dabblewriter.com/ There's a monthly cost, which I normally hate, but it's cheaper at the moment and it's very good - I'm happily writing and plotting with it right now, and it's very smooth. They cheekily claim it's "Like Scrivener. Minus the L...

Re: another super list of fixes

I registered just to agree. I've been using the Windows beta for all my writing for months now, and I've had zero problems. Maybe the remaining bugs are in areas that don't affect me - I do a lot more writing than compiling, for example. Thanks very much to the Windows devs for giving us the best wr...
