Re: Composition Mode Crawl

Sometimes a custom background image to the composition mode can cause this. If you have added a background image you can remove it within Project>Project Settings.

Re: RC10 - Styles Font Mac/Win

I've just tried this and it seems very dependent on the font. Some common fonts on the Mac like Helvetica and Times were switched to Arial and Times New Roman, respectively. Other fonts worked as they should. Are you sure you have the same version of the font on both machines? Not just the same name...

Re: Ebook compile issues : Separators in a text file & first line indenting in a paragraph

For the separator, if the two time period sections were separate text documents you can go into the extended compile settings (by clicking the down arrow) and go the Separators tab. Then set the top option for the separator between text documents to Custom and then enter the asterisk, or anything el...

Re: How do I double indent

To indent on the right go to Format>Paragraph>Tabs and Indents, or Format>Paragraph>Increase/Decrease Indents>Increase Right Indent. If you are using the Block Quote style you can then go to Format>Style>Redefine Style from Selection. The Add New Text or Add New Folder commands will usually create n...

Re: Page Number Help

Are the single page separators part of the same document in the Binder as the poetry? If they were then the no header/footer on first pages might work for you. If they are documents of their own it is more difficult. Could they be blank? I think if you look at the options you've got in page Settings...

Re: battery drain

I've not noticed any power consumption issues with Scrivener on my own MacBook. You can monitor the energy usage in real time with the Energy tab of Activity Monitor, which you will find in your Utilities folder within the Applications folder. If your project is stored in Dropbox then that would cau...

Re: Placeholder $n output wrong numbers when compile partly

There must be other factors at play here. In RC10 I created a project with two folders, with text files named with the number placeholder. Compiled the full project and got (1, 2, 3) (4, 5, 6). Compiled just the second folder and got (1,2.3). This is what I would expect. I moved the project over to ...

Re: Compiling End Notes and Trailing Phrases

There's no way I can think of to compile footnotes from Scrivener without numbers or markers of some kind. You might be able to do something in Word. An alternative approach in Scrivener might be to have each of the trailing phrases or endnotes as separate files in the Binder, at the end of for manu...

Re: how to make default format go past 6"

You just need to expand the window to make it wider, then it will show more of the ruler. The same is true for an Editor window. Generally there is no need to set the right margin. You can control the line length displayed in the editor by changing the size of the editor window and adjusting the Edi...

Re: Editor Margins Bug

Adjusting the right margin can lead to problems when you compile. A better approach is to resize the editor window to a size you are comfortable with, and then go to Tools>Options and then the Editor tab and adjust the Editor Margins to inset the text within the Editor window. It's in points so 72 e...

Re: Formatting and Compiling

Many of the tutorials or books may have been using the Mac version of Scrivener, which is currently very different. When version 3 is released for Windows the two versions will be very similar. Chapters 22 and 23 of the Scrivener manual cover creating a ToC and Compiling a draft. You can find the ma...

Re: Font select problem.

Are you using the HiDPI version? Is the list of fonts an accurate list of the fonts you have installed on that PC? It's not repeating the same ones or anything? it should pop up in a reasonably sized menu listing the fonts, which you can then scroll down.

Re: Draft and Session Targets

Take a look at the Session Target options in Project>Show Project Targets. There isn't anything in there that would make duplicating a document reset the count, but there other options that do and that may be happening coincidently.

I'd also recommend that you update to 3.1.5.
