Re: Indenting issues in compile

Hi Jackie, 1. If the sections that are getting the first line indents are separate documents then the cause of the issue may be the Separator that is being used between the sections. If you edit the compile format and go to Separators, click on the section layout you are using and change 'Separator ...

Re: epub validator error: referenced resource could not be found in the epub

Hi Jackie, Which version of Scrivener are you using? It's possible that if you are using an older version of Scrivener then the most recent may help but I'm not sure. If a file works on one platform and not another it may be that they are testing against a set of different criteria or standards. You...

Re: Compiling for Kindle -Table of Contents

Hi Marc, Are you using version 2 or 3? I'll assume 3 for now. Items get put in the ToC if the section layout they have assigned has a page break in, so if both folders and documents are bing inserted try assigning a different section type to documents and then assigning a different layout to that se...

Re: Is there a way to show edits or track changes?

Yes, there is a Revisions mode - see from page 476 of the manual (in the Help menu) for more info. It is a bit more limited than Word''s track changes as removed text will not be marked. But your friend could add a Comment to the text if they do delete anything. You could also look at using Snapshot...

Methods for moving and reordering notes in Stacks are covered on pages 32 and 33 of the manual, which you can find in the Help menu.

Re: Crash when Matching Text

The Matching Text function will take the text from the current document, all of it, and then search for that text in other documents. It is quite a processor intensive job and may take some time, but shouldn't crash. Did it actually crash or did you get the spinning ball?

Re: TEXT FONT COLOUR DEFAULTS

There doesn't seem to be a way to change the 5 preset colours, but of course you can choose Show Colors to have a much wider choice. You could also create a character style which included a text colour and then assign it a keyboard shortcut. See page 413 of the manual for more information about crea...

Re: Writing History shows in Other column

The trigger for words being added to Draft rather than Other in Writing History is not just whether they are in the Draft folder or not, but also if they are checked as being included in the Compile. Are the documents that you moved included in the Compile? You can check in the Metadata tab of the I...

Re: Problems highlighting text with Macbook Pro trackpad

Can you use the keyboard shortcuts to select the text that the trackpad won't? Hold shift down and use the arrow keys to select left or right from the cursor, or shift and command and the arrows to select larger sections. If the problem persists I would contact mac.support@literatureandlatte.com.

Re: Inline Annotations Highlight Colour

Unfortunately I don't think you are missing something. Inline annotations have coloured text and are outlined, and any highlighting applied is on top of that and so won't be persistent. It's probably a way making sure annotations and comments have clearly different appearances.

The Project Targets window will float over the project window and update as you write if you leave it open. Just move it out of the way somewhere.

Re: How well is research material displayed/working?

You can import research material directly into the Research folder, or view material from a project synced from a Mac, and it works well. If a project contains a large number of imported web pages, or other media files, make sure you allow enough time for the project to sync completely to Dropbox on...

Are you exporting a PDF or a PNG? PDF would probably be better for your purposes. It should be fully scaleable.

Re: Activation Issue Again

I'm sorry you have run into this problem. First, please make sure you're using the latest version of Scrivener for Windows (1.9.16), as we have fixed a few bugs related to reactivation issues in the most recent update. If that doesn't fix the problem, please try and restart your computer in Safe Mod...

Re: How To Format Table Width and Sentence Length

I'm guessing that you mean line length rather than sentence? You can set the width of the editor in Preferences/Appearance/Main Editor. You can set a fixed width or if you uncheck that option the editor will resize as the window is resized. You can change the width of a table by placing the mouse on...
