Re: How To Format Table Width and Sentence Length

I'm guessing that you mean line length rather than sentence? You can set the width of the editor in Preferences/Appearance/Main Editor. You can set a fixed width or if you uncheck that option the editor will resize as the window is resized. You can change the width of a table by placing the mouse on...

Re: Project Targets - compile folder not working

In Project Target options is Count Current Compile Group Only checked on? I've found that you actually have to click Compile and not Cancel to get the Compile Group to be taken notice of.

Re: Superscript endnote numbers in text too big

What I would suggest is that you try compiling with some of the other Compile Formats in the list on the left in Compile to see if any give you a different result. Try also creating a Word doc from the compile as well. There is not a setting within Scrivener for the size of the footnote number so it...

Re: Help needed with compile - academic humanities manuscript

As you are in a hurry to get this done I would recommend that you start by trying each of the Compile Formats listed on the left of the Compile format that to see which one gives you the best result. Then contact contact support to fix any remaining issues. Or if you prefer to see what you can fix y...

Re: Can no longer create bulleted or numbered lists using the styles function in Scrivener3.1.5 for Mac (Catalina)

You can create a bulleted list using Format>Lists and choosing a style, or by using the List item in the toolbar. This can be done before or after applying paragraph or character styles. Does that not do what you want? I know it is a two stage process - style then list - but it is pretty quick to do.

Re: "Paste and Match Style" (ctrl-s-v) loses formatting

Paste and Match Style will remove all the formatting in the copied text. The style it is matching to is the style in the document you are pasting into. A normal Paste should retain the formatting.

Re: Failed to sync - what now?

I would try moving it out of Dropbox on whichever device you feel is more up to date. On the iPad you can move your project to the On My iPad/iPhone section oft he list of projects by tapping edit and dragging the project down until it is under the On My iPad/iPhone section. Then let Dropbox sync an...

Re: Issues with margins and text wrapping

Have you looked at Format>Paragraph>Tabs & Indents? Any styles set? You could try selecting the document in the Binder and go to Documents>Convert>Text to default formatting.

Re: Author name not correct on compile

There are various name placeholder tags (see Help>List of All Placeholders...) but the first place they should all look is on the metadata pane (luggage tag) in the Compile dialog. Have you tried that? Fill in Forename and Surname as well as Author.

Re: Trouble creating keyboard shortcut for changing writing direction

I think because there are two menu items with the same text the shortcut will not know which to invoke and so it won't be possible to create one.

Re: Writing in UK English, but Scriv compiles to US English

This may be down to the file conversion used after the compile process rather than the compiling itself. Have you tried compiling to RTF instead? Have you got Use Enhanced Converters checked in Preferences/Sharing/Conversion?

Re: Default Paste Formatting Options

If you use Paste and Match Style (option-shift-command v) then whatever you paste will inherit the current formatting in your document. I'm afraid there is no way to set that behavior as the default for the standard command-v paste.

If you put a single asterisk * into the search box this will find everything in the Binder, You can then sort the Search Results by date with newest first.

Re: Formatting footnote window

I use footnotes a lot myself and often paste a reference in from elsewhere. When I remember I use Paste & Match Style option but if I forget you can control-click on the footnote and choose Convert to Default Formatting. That should remove the indent I think. You can set the default font and siz...
