Re: Formatting ellipses

Does Windows not give you a way to enter the UTF-8 ellipsis glyph? It’s easy on the Mac, with a very simple shortcut and, at the bottom of the Edit menu there is an entry to open a panel of symbols and other characters.

Re: Scrivener project launcher

I do Cmd-space to open a spotlight search; "s" finds Scrivener first (for me, though if you have scapple you might need to type "scr" …, though you can look down the list that’s presented if you have other apps beginning with those letters); on the right is a list of recently ope...

Post this in the Beta Testing forum, which is where it should be and where the team will see it.

Re: Punctuation marks and footnotes have disappeared

a) this should be in the Beta Testing forum;

b) information about your version of Windows, set up, and language used would give people the chance to help you.

Yes, keep safe everyone. I feel so sorry for those poor Bahamians (if that's what they call themselves!).

Re: Applying paragraph indent to all docs in project

Set it up in Options > Formatting then Document > Convert > Convert Text to Default Formatting … or whatever the wording is. Being a Mac-user, I am not sure, but I think you can do it by highlighting all the documents in the Binder; a Windows user might confirm or you can experiment. All that has ch...

Is this in 1.9.x or V. 3 Beta 22? If the latter, post it in the Beta Testing forum.

Re: Compile for ebook .mobi changes 2nd paragraph style when using "as is" formatting

By creating your own "Body Style" you are setting yourself up for all kinds of problems. With Scrivener (as opposed to Word or equivalent word-processor) you should set what will become "Body text" or "Normal" in the Preferences > Format pane, with the first line indent...

Re: Dialogue Tags

Doug, You wouldn't have a comma here after 'blush', because blushing doesn't involve speaking -- it's a matter of meaning here, not punctuation. What you have is two distinct unconnected sentences (1: he blushed. 2: his quoted speech). If you'd said 'He shouted , "It's just a metaphorical...&q...

Re: Dialogue Tags

Thanks for the reply. Using your example. He blushed. "It's just a metaphorical ejaculation, not for real. But I can see how you might be confused if we were just text on a page, instead of real-life, flesh-and-blood human beings just talking." Why isn't there a comma after blushed? He bl...

Re: RC2: Yay! Style export on compilation is working

Well, because I don't know how. In this case, I want to set a unique style for the first paragraph of every scene, i.e. the one that doesn't have a non-indented initial line. I want this style to be based on (Word's 'Style based on') the main text style, i.e. the style used for all other (body)text...

Re: Can I upgrade to Scrivener 3, but run v.1.9 in parallel for a while?

Eagerly looking forward to the release of Scrivener 3 for Windows and to upgrading, but I would rather run it in parallel to Scrivener 1.9.13 for a while - say a couple of months, Is there a way of doing that, or will an upgrade unavoidably write over v1.9? Context: I know L&L wouldn't be relea...
