Re: -bak.zip in Dropbox

It looks as though you have instructed Scrivener to back up your projects to your Dropbox folder. You can check the designated location by opening Scrivener's preferences. selecting the Backup pane and looking at the file path listed at Backup location. If your backups are stored in the same folder...

Re: Copying and pasting from Word results in a halved page.

Have you tried highlighting the whole posting and then dragging the right margin marker all the way to the right off the pane, which should set the justification to work automatically however wide you make the editing pane, if I remember rightly. Using "Paste and Match Style" or whatever i...

Re: New to Scrivener-pre purchase question

While the Mac version is newer than the current Windows non-beta version, that also means that the Windows 3.0 version is likely to have at least a few features that are yet newer and more advanced than the Mac 3.0 version. They are likely to not be identical, but will surely merge to be closer to ...

Re: Weird Text While Using Scrivener 3 Beta

As this is to do with the beta, it should be posted in the Beta Testing forum.

Re: New to Scrivener-pre purchase question

My pleasure. As a Mac user for nearly 30 years, I of course favour the Mac version, but there are those who prefer Windows, and the question of which is best must depend on such preferences … or at least when Windows v. 3 reaches as near parity with the Mac as the different OSes permit.

Re: New to Scrivener-pre purchase question

Simple answer: 1) You have a 30 days of actual use—not calendar days—trial period on the Mac, so download and install it and give it a good try; 2) Download and install the public Windows v. 3 Beta from here: https://www.literatureandlatte.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=40621 bearing in mind tha...

Re: [B34] Inspector panel doesn't resize properly

Have you tried saving the layout when you have the inspextor widened enough to see the X?

I'm on Mac, and don't know if Windows 3 will re-open in the saved layout it was in when closed, but I think it'd be worth a try.

Window > Layouts > Manage Layouts…

Re: Improvement for PDF output.

If you're writing about the Windows v. 3 Beta, post this in the Beta Testing forum. If you're using 1.9.16, it will only be dealt with under version 3 development.

Re: Table not supported?

I don't know how complicated your tables are, but from your various recent posts, it seems to me that you have a problem somewhere in your computer. I'd start by shutting down, and then before you do anything else, run a maintenance suite over your HD/SSID. Many people use Onyx, which is free; I cou...

Re: Syncing Scrivener Across Devices

I appreciate the information. After reading the cautions, it looks to be a little more finicky than it's worth. That's a problem since I work on a Mac desktop at home and an HP laptop at meetings. Thank you both for your help, though. Far from it. I work regularly with my colleague in China … I'm o...

Re: Moving footnotes

I suggest you try Project > Project Settings… > Format and at the top of the pane "Choose Footnote Marker". The default is an asterisk but you can edit that if you wish. In future, choosing Inspector footnote puts your selected marker in the text, without highlighting any word(s), and it c...
