Re: WORDS ARE KING to writers - THEY ARE OUR #1 PRIORITY!

Then, of course, there's the magnificent Jabberwocky , which shows how it can be done, albeit in a poem. That's how you know you've done it right, when your invented words become canon and then entries into the OED. Shakespeare was first out the gate, in this regard. I think he's number one, still,...

Re: Congratulations Team L&L!

People like you are why so many open-source projects die. Why? Because you treat the developers like crap, demand things you've no right to, and whine incessantly about reality. Developing for Windows is not cheap; there's a small development team, and they have to earn a living or there's no way th...

Re: I am FREAKING out - Scrivener opened today to a very old version of my novel

As well, I might also suggest taking a deep breath, backing away from the keyboard for a bit, and then once your blood pressure and panic levels are down to a manageable level, approach the issue again. There are rarely totally irrecoverable issues with a computer. That user directory I wiped out, l...

Re: Congratulations Team L&L!

Wow... I thought I was a cheap bastard. Y'all really ought to go price software services and support out in the real world, where similar products to Scrivener in other specialized fields are priced at exponentially higher prices. Software development ain't cheap--I've paid $5,000.00 plus for a piec...

Re: I am FREAKING out - Scrivener opened today to a very old version of my novel

The automatic backup location should be: C:\Users\Account\AppData\Local\LiteratureAndLatte\Scrivener\Backups If that's where you checked, then... I really don't know what to tell you. The thing to do is read through that whole section on backups, and try to work out what went wrong, if anything did....

Re: WORDS ARE KING to writers - THEY ARE OUR #1 PRIORITY!

Found this while doing a search for "how best to create/manage glossaries in a project". While I tend to agree that the excessive use of invented language/words can become a bit of a vice for a writer, there is the question of uncommon technical terms that need definition within a work. Ne...

Re: I am FREAKING out - Scrivener opened today to a very old version of my novel

First, back up what you have.

Then, refer yourself to section 5.2 of the manual, and use that to find your automatic backups, which should have happened somewhere along the lines.

Is anyone using Scrivener to create web serials...?

As per the topic, is anyone using Scrivener as their tool to create and publish this sort of thing? And, if so, what have people learned from doing that? Tips, tricks, techniques of formatting?

Re: Version 3 - misc. issues + 1 specific Q: setting scroll bar width

Julian, do you know if you have any other apps or programs that use Qt?

I wonder if this isn't related to some of the strangenesses that the Beta was having with the latest version of that.

Re: Version 3 - misc. issues + 1 specific Q: setting scroll bar width

In earlier days, with other programs, this was a result of interaction between the video drivers and the Windows OS. My suggestion would be to try looking at things outside of Scrivener, and seeing if there are issues. One diagnostic would be to roll back to completely vanilla Windows video drivers ...

Re: Scrivener error

So, what's interesting is this... Kinda. My system updated through the in-app updater, promptly crashed. I then came here, found the various and sundry posts about it, and went to uninstall the program, which worked fine. Then, as I have learned to do, I went into the directory to zap the folder it ...

Re: Cost of Windows 3 version

I'm curious what the upgrade price for current owners of 1.9 will look like... Given the amount of grief a lot of the people have been giving L&L over in the beta forum, I wouldn't blame them a bit for saying "Yeah, full freight for 3.0...". I have to be honest... I'm extremely impress...

Re: Please, test “Check for Updates” in RC17

Ok, mine is now working. I used CCleaner to make sure everything was gone in the Registry. As well as old install versions. All those were gone. And I did that before. What I did differently this time was remove the old folder from Program Files. There were files left in the folder still. It's poss...
