Access to the license server appears to be working again with today's update. I was on my final day! I'm sure the Windows team worked extremely hard to get this fixed so well done to them. That said, what I've learned and experienced from this incident has prompted me to move to an alternative that ...
I wonder how many potential customers reach that page before buying, as compared to the number who read the more up-front stuff. Well, less than 3% of users read the legal agreements of the software they install. So, you are among the few who care. I bet 0% dig through the knowledge base ...
The Privacy and Security article from our Knowledge Base is here: https://scrivener.tenderapp.com/help/kb/general/privacy-and-security-2 It was updated in June to reflect the switch to Paddle, but the fundamental behavior -- periodic activation checks -- is unchanged. Katherine Edit: And here's the...
Under the old platform (eSellerate), Scrivener would phone home -- something L&L made no secret of I'd very much appreciate seeing a link to where the information was stated to prospective purchasers. I'm not trying to be difficult. If the activation model was disclosed in some way where I coul...
I don't think anyone's work is actually threatened with loss or destruction. [...] Should activation-checking even be done at all? Should something that's been paid for just work without a glitch like this? Good questions, but not ones I personally feel like debating. Someone will, though.... For m...
I've not had the message for three consecutive days now, so either I'm just lucky or the licence server is working better. Fingers crossed the problem won't come back! I still get it every day, 7 days left now. Looking into fully-ownable alternatives to avoid the possibility of a hiatus next week (...

I wonder if v3 will use a similar server-based rolling authentication scheme and thus be vulnerable to the same problems down the line, I suspect so but I guess there's no way of knowing without an official statement.
I must say how much I dislike any software that needs to regularly re-authorize itself--and that obviously includes Scrivener. Why can't you join the other 99 percent of computer programs and simply authorize the software ONCE, on first use, by placing a key in the Windows registry? I have too much...
Be aware that the stable (ahem) Windows version relies on functioning licence/activation servers, so is not a one-off purchase that you're guaranteed to be able to use for the rest of your life. If you're comfortable with that then I'd say go for it, it's an excellent writing tool.
Given the length of this thread, and not meaning to be rude, but you might look back through a few pages to see what suggestions there are. The best way to limit this thread would be a pinned informational post containing an explanation of the problem, current status, reassurance that people won't ...
The last update is still working for me - and I start Scrivener at least once every day. Keeping fingers crossed it has worked permanently! For me, also on the latest update, the Buy Now option is grayed out and reads "Buy Now... (Searching for License Server)". When I put in my code it a...
I'm sure it will be fixed before the trials expire, so I'm not worried about the reversion of my license at the moment. However, there's a also broader issue for me here: before I started looking into my license problem I never realized that Scrivener had a rolling re-activation scheme. If I underst...
I never experienced the issue discussed in the older threads but since the latest update 1.9.15.0 -- 13th October my license has been completely revoked. It's notable that I've been completely unaffected (or at least any validation problems were unreported to me) prior to 1.9.15.0. As soon as I inst...
