I wonder how many potential customers reach that page before buying, as compared to the number who read the more up-front stuff. I've not had the message for three consecutive days now, so either I'm just lucky or the licence server is working better. Fingers crossed the problem won't come back! I wonder if v3 will use a similar server-based rolling authentication scheme and thus be vulnerable to the same problems down the line, I suspect so but I guess there's no way of knowing without an official statement.

I must say how much I dislike any software that needs to regularly re-authorize itself--and that obviously includes Scrivener. Why can't you join the other 99 percent of computer programs and simply authorize the software ONCE, on first use, by placing a key in the Windows registry? I have too much...

Be aware that the stable (ahem) Windows version relies on functioning licence/activation servers, so is not a one-off purchase that you're guaranteed to be able to use for the rest of your life. If you're comfortable with that then I'd say go for it, it's an excellent writing tool.
