Re: Who overthinks?

That's smart, too, but what appears ironic to me here is that this thinking, and the earlier thinking, are in many ways mutually exclusive. The words 'write it' in the first advice imply 'just write it' which implies not being concerned about bigger picture concepts and just letting your art flow. ...

Re: Who overthinks?

The trick that always works for me is thinking: "This is a first draft. Write it. You cannot improve on anything, until it exists." That and having the story plotted out, so I know where I'm going. I once tried pantsing a story, and it was horrible. Just slipping and sliding all over the p...

Re: Scrivener won't open first - third time

I have the same problem.

I have been using Scrivener for around 18 months and it has never frozen on me until a few days back (with version .16).

Now it has done it twice.

Re: After critical hot fix update, Scrivener no longer opens

I had this problem after updating. Once updated, I couldn't run Scrivener.

I'm not sure, my problem was completely identical to yours, but for me it helped to reboot my computer. Once rebooted, Scrivener ran as normal. This happened to me both when updating to v.1.9.14.0 and v.1.9.15.0.

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

As I wrote above the hang upon first run is expected. Please, leave it running and do not kill Scrivener. The hang should disappear upon subsequent runs. Yes, the new version connects to the license server successfully, but using back the old one will probably fail one more time in ~2 months. You c...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

OK, I've tried replacing the exe file as requested. This is what happened: First time I opened the program after replacing the exe file, Scrivener still hung as before. Second time it behaved... differently. I have described below. BEFORE (with the unaltered exe file): 1. I open Scrivener. 2. Scrive...

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

@Jakob: Thanks for the update Jakob! Does it mean that you receive the error occasionally, or you receive it every time you start Scrivener. I do not receive it every time I open Scrivener. So far it has only appeared twice, and I have opened Scrivener... well, at least ten to twenty times since th...

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

I'm on Windows 10, without the very latest update, so I'm running .NET Framework 4.7.2.

I've gotten the 2 month warning twice now, a few days apart.

Re: unable to verify your activation for more then two months

It fits pretty perfectly with two months since the small series of updates when the licensing provider was changed. It was in late June and early July as I recall (I went on summer holidays in the very first days of July and had to install a trial version just in time for the last of the "licen...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

I don't think the message pops up every time Scrivener is launched. I've only had it once (yesterday morning) and have used Scrivener several times since then without any pop up. So perhaps Scrivener only checks periodically, or only presents the warning pop up once (or once every week, fortnight et...

Re: License manager ended unexpectedly

I have the same problem as Dr. Zogg. In addition, Scrivener has been hanging for five to ten seconds when opening lately, and I suspect this is when it tries to "re-activate with our license provider", because when I got the error message today, there was no hang time at all. It would appe...

Re: My Windows latest version has started opening very slowly

I have the same problem. It seems Scrivener hangs - it opens the main window, but then hangs for five to ten seconds before the top menu and the folder contents etc. appear. This started happening a few updates back, perhaps half a month to a month ago (I'm currently using 1.9.13.0). It could have s...
