Re: Looking for new reference manager to work with Scrivener. RIP Sente

Very, very helpful--thank you. I downloaded the trial and spent some time with yesterday and liked it. The migration from Sente appears to be well thought out and while of course not seamless will work. I've more or less settled on Bookends. Thanks again! I work in history and psychology, and since ...

Re: Looking for new reference manager to work with Scrivener. RIP Sente

Thanks. It does seem that Bookends can search a good variety of databases now. Good to hear in any case that Papers is still a good option. I use Papers. Started with v 2 and moved on to v 3 and haven't had any major mishaps. The deal breaker for me, at the time, was that Papers had (and have) the a...

Looking for new reference manager to work with Scrivener. RIP Sente

Hi everyone, I am a long term user of both Scrivener and Sente. I am a historian and have used them together to write two books. However, Sente seems to have closed its doors. While it still works on my Mac it no longer syncs with my iPad and I am contemplating a new computer. So, I am searching for...

Re: HELP: When trying to open .sciv projects the terminal opens

Thanks all. Yes, it seems to be resolved. Copying Scrivener was likely done in a panic induced haze. Cannot recall the logic! Since installing Scrivener in 2008 and writing 2 books on it and into a third I have NEVER had a single moment of trouble so I was worried. It all seems to have been related ...

Re: HELP: When trying to open .sciv projects the terminal opens

Thank you very much, but I am not sure what this means:

(1) Trash the preferences file (or move it out of Preferences) to see if that cures things; if not move the original .plist file back again.

Can you explain please? Thanks again

Re: HELP: When trying to open .sciv projects the terminal opens

Thanks re the right click suggestion. I am afraid it does not work. In the meantime, I recalled that yesterday, when trying to sort out the syncing matters, I had copied the Scrivener app and placed the original in the trash. I decided right after I wrote to see if the trashed version of Scrivener (...

HELP: When trying to open .sciv projects the terminal opens

Dear Fellow Users and Support Staff, I am a longtime Scrivener user. As of today something very strange is happening. When I click on any .scriv project the terminal opens up rather than Scrivener. Please see the screenshot. The ONLY way to access projects is from the recent projects menu in Scriven...

Re: "Open Recent" and "Recent Projects" not working regularly after update

Thanks for clearing that up; it never occurred to me I was to be looking anywhere else but Scrivener. I found it. But changing it does not seem to work: I've changed it to multiple, different numbers; each time I close preferences and reopen it reverts back to none. Perhaps rebooting will do it. Tha...

Re: "Open Recent" and "Recent Projects" not working regularly after update

Thanks. I am looking in Preferences and it's not clear to what it is in your instructions, i.e. "If it is already set to something reasonable, try setting it to something else and then back again, maybe it is stuck." I don't see anything about Open Recent or Recent Projects. I am sure it's...

"Open Recent" and "Recent Projects" not working regularly after update

Hi All, Hardly a major problem; just a little annoying. When I open Scrivener and go the dropdown menu that normally allows me open recent projects there is nothing there; the same thing happens when I open a project and want to open another: I go to file and "recent projects" shows nothin...

Re: cmd y, footnotes, and Sente

Indeed it is! Thanks Keith. Who knows how it changed, but I was able to change it back in preferences and then gestures. Business as usual. Oh, while I have you: Scrivener has been excellent! I've written a book, countless essays, lectures, and so forth using it. Many thanks.

cmd y, footnotes, and Sente

Hi all, I have been using Scrivener and Sente together for several years. I use a lot of footnotes. To get them into Scrivener I first create a footnote and then hit command y and the citation appears in the footnote. No problem. Works great. But then today, rather than getting the full citation, I ...

word count of current location

Hi everyone, I searched but could not find an answer to this. I would like to know if there's a way to know where one is in a document in terms of word count? That is, say I have a document that's 10,000 words I'd like to be able to know at a given point where I am--am I at 6,000 of 10,000 or 500 of...
