Re: Hunting down first line indent problem

Have you tried to create a new document, copy the text in chapter 12 and paste it with match formatting? You probably has something in there that you can’t ser that is causing the problem. Bingo--that solved it! Thank you! Now, I'd still love to figure out what was causing the problem... APH, is it...

Re: Hunting down first line indent problem

Good guess! But it doesn't work.

If I export the whole manuscript, it looks fine up until Chapter 12, even though there are many adjacent text documents. Furthermore, the problem lasts throughout Chapter 12; there are many blank lines between sections, but no indents are removed.

Here you go! (I lorem ipsumed the text, but confirmed that the issue remains.) Chapter 11: https://imgur.com/EHJlZDY Chapter 12: https://imgur.com/3kdUFVb Chapter 11 is the one that compiles correctly; Chapter 12 is the one that ignores the "remove indent from first paragraph and after blank li...

Hunting down first line indent problem

Hello! I am compiling my project, and for the Section Layout for most of the documents in the project, I've specified "Remove from first paragraph and after empty lines." Right now I'm looking at chapters 11 and 12. As far as I can tell, they're formatted exactly the same. Both are section...

Re: Remove indent from first paragraph and after empty lines not working

Thanks, AmberV. I did "remove all tab stops" in the format definition, and that seemed to fix it.

Remove indent from first paragraph and after empty lines not working

Hello. I'm trying to use the feature "Remove indent from first paragraph and after empty lines" when compiling to DOCX. In my project, I've designated a document as a Section. I've assigned the Titled Section layout to Section documents, and then in a custom format, I've selected Titled Se...

Re: Ebook workflow and maintenance

Thanks, asotir. This is very helpful. I will play around with Script mode in Scrivener, and I haven't tried LibreOffice in ages. Downloading now.

Ebook workflow and maintenance

I recently self-published my first ebook, Pretty Good Number One: An American Family Eats Tokyo , and I wanted to walk through my workflow. I probably made a lot of newbie errors, and I wonder if you have any ideas for producing my next book with less tooth-grinding. Some of this is not directly Scr...

Re: To have an Agent or not to have one, that is the question...

Even if a publisher came to you and asked to publish your book (and this actually happened to a friend of mine) you would still want an agent. My agent handles the parts of the publishing process that I am bad at or not interested in. He explains contracts to me in plain English and fights for bette...

Re: Tracking changes

You can't. Any chance you could get your friend to use Scrivener, even the free trial?

Alternatively, what about printing out the manuscript and giving it to your friend with a red pen? This is what I ended up doing for a round of edits before having to switch to Word to finish up.

Re: Restored .scriv won't open

I'll bet the interruption was the cause. Definitely zip your backups. Otherwise you run the risk of ending up with a partial .scriv package, which is probably what happened here.

Re: Scrivener on a second computer

Use a thumb drive or zip the project and use some web space, or Dropbox, or a large file sending tool like DropSend.

Re: Scrivener on a second computer

Yes. Your license allows you to install Scrivener on your laptop, and you can install it exactly the same way you did on your desktop, with the same license number. Then just copy the projects you want to take with you via wi-fi or USB key. Nothing to it.
