Re: Ready to try Scrivener. Start with RC6?

I always set my projects to "sync to folder" in rtf format. That way, I have a folder with all the files in the same structure that I'd find in the Binder, which would make reconstructing the project very easy if, for some reason, things did manage to go south with the project file itself.

Re: Beta Release Candidate 6 expires 30th June 2020.

One question: What happens when it "expires"? Those of us who have been on this beta for months, even years, have never once seen the new version fail to overlap the old, even if it is released upon the day before expiration. They recommend for the sake of Beta Testing that you uninstall ...

Re: Grateful for the good news

I bought Scrivener for Windows a year or so ago before I even knew there was a beta for a new version, and I get migraines a lot so when I came to the forums looking for how to change it to 'dark mode' and discovered the beta, I got it. Been using it ever since and really hoping it will finally be ...

Some problems with customizing theme colors

Had this happen with 'Ocean' and I *think* it happened with 'Solarized Light' as well. If you change the Main Editor's background after changing the text color, the text color returns to the theme default on the screen, but the color picker (and the swatch in the menu) indicate the color you changed...

Re: Grateful for the good news

But RC5 is running to the end of May. Not sure if that is a good or bad sign. But could be a way to keep the version numbers low. Maybe they have some big bug to cope with, like their bête noire , bullet lists. After fixing many smaller bugs, now they have to put effort into things like this...

Re: RC2 (and about what is a release candidate)

It seems that for every one of you, there are several who insist that this program is actually ready for full release, and fret over every beta version that doesn't seem to indicate that the program is about to be considered done.

Have you tried using Snapshots?

I have not! What are they?

Re: Question on Usability / Reliability of the Beta

I myself have found the beta to be entirely stable, when it comes to creating parts of my story and saving/securing my work. As a failsafe - and as a way to add to my story if I get an idea on my cell phone - I have it auto-set to Sync To Folder upon program close (and detection of changes upon open...

Re: Comparing to how others do it -- Scrivener releases, etc.

Affinity software is great. It's also true that Publisher is a brand-new product, whereas Windows Scrivener users have been waiting for years for the official release to catch up to the Mac version. Affinity also doesn't lock their users out two or three times a month. Let's make the comparison fai...

I can see both of them. Using Google Chrome Version 80.0.3987.149 (Official Build) (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro N 64-bit.

Ooh, nifty! Thank you so much! Doing some heavy dialogue writing in my novel (don't worry, I have things backed up three ways to Sunday), and I keep running into it. I appreciate!

Re: Bug - Single quote mark facing wrong way after double quote mark

Ok, I could see this not being a Scrivener-specific problem. I can work around it. I've been a programmer and a quality engineer before, so I posted it because I figured they'd want to know about it. Thanks guys!

Re: Bug - Single quote mark facing wrong way after double quote mark

Just tested Beta 42: Problem persists. The single quote directly after a double quote attempts to "close" the quote.

Re: Bug - Single quote mark facing wrong way after double quote mark

Just tested Beta 41; problem persists. If an opening double quote is followed immediately by a single quote, the single quote will be a closing quote.

Re: Automatic Backup: similar to auto-save.

Huh, ok, I stand (or sit) corrected. :) I assumed he was talking about saving, because it would not have occurred to me to keep making full backups every few minutes. If I'm working on a particular section and I think I may want to preserve the way I started it, I usually copy-paste it into the Note...
